My husband and I ate at the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland in January 2014. He ordered the gumbo and found a large sharp chicken bone in it! The waitress did nothing - just told us she would tell the chef.  It got worse from there. I ordered the jambalaya and the prawns didn't taste cooked well. When I got back to our hotel room 3 hours later, I GOT VIOLENTLY ILL FROM FOOD POISONING – MY HUSBAND ALMOST TOOK ME TO THE HOSPITAL.  I WAS SO SICK FOR 3 DAYS THAT I COULDN’T LEAVE OUR HOTEL ROOM AND IT RUINED THE REST OF OUR TRIP. I know for sure it was food poisoning - my husband never got sick because he didn't eat the same thing I did.  I''M SPREADING THE WORD BOTH ONLINE AND IN PERSON: DO NOT EAT AT THE BLUE BAYOU RESTAURANT IN DISNEYLAND – YOU WILL GET VERY ILL AND MAY EVEN DIE. Both our meals totaled $80 - at the very least we should get refunded our money.

It wasn't the flu - it was FOOD POISONING. My husband didn't eat the same thing as me and he never got sick.  Also - the friends we met in Anaheim the day before never got sick either. You are WRONG about the period of time between the ingestion of the poisonous food and actually getting ill - it is different for everyone - it can be as soon as 2 hours and as long as 8 hours.  So guess you aren't as medically smart as you thought.  I spoke with my doctor when I got back from our trip, and he agreed that it was food poisoning because no one else got sick and the food at the Blue Bayou didn't taste cooked - the prawns were rubbery.  AND - you can't explain away the fact that my husband found a large chicken bone in his gumbo....that alone should have been reason for us to get up and leave.  Go ahead - take a chance and eat at the Blue Bayou - if you want to get sick.

So you know "for sure" that it was Food Poisoning.  So in your expert medical opinion what type of Food Poisoning was it?Was it Salmonella, Norovirus, Campylobacter, E. coli, Listeria or was it one of the other dozens of other possible Bacteria or Viruses?

I GOT VIOLENTLY ILL FROM FOOD POISONING– MY HUSBAND ALMOST TOOK ME TO THE HOSPITAL.  I WAS SO SICK FOR 3 DAYS THAT I COULDN’T LEAVE OUR HOTEL ROOM AND IT RUINED THE REST OF OUR TRIP.

- So you are violently ill and according to your name "LuckyToBeAlive" yet you did not go to the Hospital where you could get a real professional opinion of what you may have had.  Because here is your big issue almost without exception the 3 hours you reported is too short for it to be Food Poisoning..at least from where you are reporting it.  Most have at least a 6+ hour incubation period.  Generally(but again not always) anything this short could be anything from Food Poisioning, an Alergic Reaction, or a totally unrelated illness.  This is why the one thing that would have answered this is the one thing you failed to do.

Did you even make a report to the Orange County health department?  They take these reports very..very seriously.  Oh and how do I know, because I reported a resturant and within 24 hours they personally called me and wanted to know all of the details.

While it may be too late now, you can go to ocfoodinfo.com and follow the links on how to report it.

Then we get to the "real" issue.  What did Disney say when you contacted them about your Food Poisoning?  You did contact them right..so what did they say?  It is very interesting how you left that entire part out of your report.

Why do I say this..well first some full disclosure.  Being in Orange County and very near Disneyland I know several people who work there and know that if there was any proof of your claims..you would have been taken care of in some way.

Its a little known fact about food poisoning that tells me it wasnt ACTUAL food poisoning. With actual food poisoning onset of vomitting tends to occur within 15-30 mins of the FIRST BITE. SInce your issue occured much later then odds are it wasnt food poisoning. However it could have been a DIFFERENT type of poisoning. Such as bleach on seafood, a microbiotic infestation of the shrimp, or good ole fashion "Too much" for your system to handle. Next time you get sick on a vacation, if you hope to even see a refund, GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!! Otherwise its YOUR WORD vs. THEIR WORD. If you had gone to the hospital, you would have a record of the visit and what the gastrintestinal findings were. Such as COMMON FOOD POISONING. This way you have solid proof that you were ill and can legally seek reimbursment. If you dont do this, then it will be asumed that you just didnt like the place and are saying ANYTHING to get your money back. I can tell you right now that the house of mouse isnt going to refund you a dime without a good reason. The hospital visit WOULD BE A GREAT REASON.
