On March 9, 2015 I purchased a Bluebird/American Express money card at Walmart in Lutz, Fl. I put $200.00 on this card for travel expenses. I checked my balance several days before traveling and it reflected the corrected amount of $200.00. I also registered the temporary card on line as directed.
I attempted to use my card several times only to be informed that it was denied or that there was a 0.00 balance. When i returned from travel i checked my mail and the permanent card had arrived. Instructions were to call the number on the card to activate the new card. The male representative advised me that he activated my permanentcard.
I attempted to use my card at the Walmart I purchased it at and was told I had a 0.00 balance. I contacted Bluebirt/American Express and they had no balance on my unused card. I was advised to fax identification and the receipt to them and they would investigate. This will take approximately 10 days.
This concerns me because the permanent card was generated on information I registered the temporary card. This company didn't even have a record of the temporary card number in their system, even though I read it to the representative from the receipt.
This company has all of my inforation and I am afraid this might lead to identity theft. I am a senior citizen and this situation makes me feel uneasy.
