BMG Music recieved a phone call from a collection agency yesterday saying I owed BMG $268. from 2002. Kerville Texas
yesterday I recieved a phone call from someone claiming to be a collection agency. she said I owed BMG 260. some dollars. I told her she had to be wrong, I had no idea what she was talking about. When I ask what BMG was, she did not know. I did not find out until I went online what this company was. I told her I was not giving out any financial info. on the phone and I was not paying something I didn't owe! She then tried to barter on what I could pay to keep this off of my credit report. She first said I could settle right now for $25.95, then she said just a minute and she put me on hold. She came back and said she was wrong, I could pay $187. something, but that would not get it off of my credit report! By this time I was fuming, I informed her that I didn't care, I didn't owe this and I wasn't paying it! I ask where the hell this had been since 2002, and she said with some other collection service. This was all news to me, and I don't know where it came from. I have lived at the same address and had the same phone number for over twelve years!!!

Don't pay a dime. They're trying to get something paid against it to reaffirm the debt. The debt is past the statute of limitations in just about every state. Just ignore them, and if they call back - tell them they're out of luck. If they threaten you, then laugh at them. Tell them to pound sand.
