I purchased a Bowflex Blaze Home Gym in August 2008. I bought this system because it was advertised, the website, as being only $14/month with $0 down.

A representative of Bowflex called me in response to my online inquiry. I told him I had already purchased the system and that it would be delivered in a few days.

The system was delivered on September 8, 2008. It took me 5 hours to put it together. Although the major component instructions are relatively easy to understand, attaching some of the cables is more confusing. I requested assistance with the cable attachment but never received a response to my question.

The TV ad and the website claim that you only have to work out 20 minutes a day, three times a week, to see results. The Bowflex DVD and their TV ads claim that results can be seen in just six weeks.

I used the system three times a day, seven days a week, for the first four weeks. Although I did lose a couple of inches in my waist, an inch in my thighs, and an inch in my tricep, I did not lose any weight, and I did not see the results I was expecting after four weeks. In fact, I was gaining weight, but everyone told me "muscle weighs more than fat." I thought I must be expecting "miracles" too soon. I continued to use the system, not losing any more inches, but gaining more weight.

Then I got my first bill. Instead of the $14/month I had been promised and was expecting, the first statement was $25. I refused to pay this statement.

I called Bowflex. I actually got a live person instead of a voicemail or other machine. The man I spoke with promised to send me, in writing, information that would say my payments would be $14/month with no interest for the first 12 months. As of December 6, 2008, I have not gotten that letter or email message.

The tv and website claim that "results are guaranteed" and if I am not happy, I can return the system. The instructions that come with the system say that the system has to be returned within the first six weeks.

Because I did not get the results promised by this company, I called Bowflex to ask for an return merchandise authorization (RMA), leaving a message with my phone number. I also emailed Bowflex twice to ask for this RMA. Never got a response to any of my requests.

I got another statement that said the payment was $33/month. Worrying about my credit, I paid that statement. My second statement also said $33 was due. I haven't paid it yet.

I have received no return calls to my three requests for an RMA prior to the "within six week" period. I have not received the written promise that my payments would only be $14/month with no interest for the first 12 months.

I am not married and live alone. I live on a fixed income which is below the state and national poverty level. I do not receive food stamps because welfare says my SSDI is "too high." I cannot afford $33/month for this very expensive piece of crap.

I am still using the system. But I am still gaining weight, with no noticeable muscle. I am not losing any more inches anywhere.

I am very unhappy with this company.

Hello Victim of Bowflex!
I have a solution for you and all other Bowflex victims! See, I am a victim myself and had a Blaze also. I got satisfying results and this will not only work on Bowflex but any company because they cannot ignore these people. Always remember your computer can be a very useful tool. Get on your computer and type in BBB for whatever state this company is located in and fill out your complaint with them online. Have a billing statement with you because you will need acct numbers and address! I also contacted The Attorney General Office for that state and reported them. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) was invaluable they kept in constant contact with me by email and no problem was going to be considered closed until I was happy!

Good luck!

I am only responding as to your workout routine.  First using a machine 3 times a day is severe over training and you will, "hit the wall" in your muscle development.  The only way to continue to gain fat weight and not muscle weight is to not alter your diet to something healthier but to use the workout as an excuse to eat worse foods and assume you will burn it off.  You must have experienced beginner muscle gains then it tapered off due to your fitness program.  If your stuck with a machine that you have to pay for then make use of it.  You took the time to write a report so take the time to google some diet and fitness routine tips.  I don't go by the Bowflex workout routine but use something similar to what I did at the gym.  every other day for about an hour of solid training and in the last 2 months I changed to a healthier diet and really saw great results.  Good luck
