Buffet Vichy LaSalle Danger! Inedible, undercooked food! Cigarette butt-laden dessert! LaSalle Quebec
My husband and I went to eat lunch with friends one afternoon last year at Buffet Vichy in LaSalle. We'd always been happy with the service and with the food up until this fateful afternoon.
One of our friends chose some chicken which was undercooked to the point of the meat being pink. Can you say 'salmonella'?
Another lunch friend selected a bowl of rice pudding for his dessert. The top surface of the rice pudding was smooth when he picked his dessert, but when he put his spoon into the bowl to begin eating, he noticed a cigarette butt was lodged in the rice pudding. Nice!
We called our waittress over and asked to see the Manager. The Manager came running out of the kitchen, wearing no hairnet, and proceeded to sweat while hovering at our table. My husband had to move his water glass so that the Manager's beads of sweat wouldn't plop into it.
After much verbal wrangling, the Manager offered to give our friend who had the cigarette-butt dessert his meal free. When our waittress overheard the offer, she snapped, "That'll come out of my pocket!"
If you are ever unfortunate enough to visit LaSalle, Quebec, please don't eat lunch at Vichy's Buffet.
