Bureau of Credit Recovery BCR harrassing phone call for fraudelent claim Eaden Prairie, Minnesota
I received a phone call from the Bureau of Credit Recovery with an alleged phone number of 877-788-1060 only they called me from 202-607-2733. They stated Citi Associates as the party they were collecting for as the original Creditor. I have never heard of any of these firms and do not owe anyone any money like the amount stated. I can say that I have not received any bills from Citi Associates or BCR in the past, nor is it listed on my credit report. This is the first time I have had to address such a situation and it really makes me angry.
I asked the representative from BCR at his stated extension 6869 for a copy of the signed contract that he said I allegedly had with Citi Associates and he said he could not provide me with one. He said that I would have to contact Citi Associates directly to obtain this. He was also unable to provide me with any additional information such as an address or phone number for this alleged creditor. He did however say that there was an original account number. I took the alleged account number down. If this company had a legitimate claim I would think they would be eager to produce evidence to support that I really owed them any money.
The burden of proof lies on them to show me that I owe them something. The burden of proof to show that I dont owe these companies anything lies in my credit report. If an individual owes a creditor money the creditor would update this information on the individuals credit report to show lateness or a history of past due monies, how much, and how long the monies have been owed. I was upset with this company and not so much with the caller at this nonsense. I assumed the caller was just an employee doing what he gets paid to do. I think they might have thought they had a fool on the line that would just fork over hard earned cash for a fraudulent claim.
To note I also asked the representative from BCR not to call me at my home anymore. He stated that he would send me a letter to state that I owed them monies but they still can not provide me with proof. He also stated that I should send them a letter that said I dont owe them any debt and I intend to.
I went on the internet and found multiple complaints of similar scams which listed the above named companies. I am going to write my state attorney generals office so that they can become aware of the scam the companies stated herein is trying to pull and get away with. I will file a suit against this company if they harass me again. That will be money well spent.

I had the same experience. I wanted to clean up my credit report so I got in contact with them. They wanted me to pay instantly, but I said I needed an itemized bill, or proof that they had ownership of the debt. What they sent me was something on thier letterhead, giving no real proof. When I asked them for the original proof of debt, they said that was all they had. Despite the info they had, I will not pay any collection company without proof they own they debt, as it could very well be a scam.
