I set out to purchase new all season radials for my car. I stopped in Burgess Tire to see what they had to offer.  Burgess Tire did not have new tires in stock. The salesman showed me used tires, 2 Goodyears and 2 Mastercrafts. I said thanks but no thanks and told him that I wanted 4 new tires all the same because mounting different tires affects the book value and the way the car handles. I was headed for the door and he said to wait. If you want 4 of the same here's the way to go. He showed me a stack of 4 tires that were used but appeared to have good tread. The price for the 4 tires was $329.00. I noticed the size was different than what was on the car but he informed me that these tires would fit my car. That was a bold face lie and I fell for it. I agreed to purchase that set of 4 tires. S&S had quoted me 479.00 for a set and the savings was indeed inviting. Later that night after doing further research on-line I discovered that the 4 tires Burgess wanted to sell me for $329.00 were NOT the correct size for my car!!!!! I did not realize that at the time. I was trusting the dealer would show me and sell me what I needed.

Burgess Tire proceeded to removed my old tires and then approached me with one different brand tire to replace a broken one in the set that they could not use. I refused. I'm not a tire expert but I do know that it is not advisable to mix brands of tires unless you keep 2 of the same on the front and 2 of the same on the back. The man then said he couldn't put my old tires back on so he started digging around to see what he had. I felt like I was thrown against a wall without any options. He came up with 4 used Mastercrafts that were 2 different styles. This was my only choice they had to offer. He said he could put 2 on the front and 2 on the back. He knocked off a few dollars and said they were better than what he took off my car.  They charged me $151.00 for used tires that had less than 50% of the tread left.  I was very unhappy.

I left the establishment and went up the road to get gas. While I was pumping gas I was looking at the tires and I noticed that 2 of the same tires were on the passenger side. I walked around to the drivers side and there were 2 different tires on that side and they were not the same size as the tires on the passenger side. I immediately called the shop. They were closing and told me to come back the next day.  Burgess Tires had no regard for the safety of my vehicle on the road.

The next day I went back and they took the two WRONG SIZE tires off the car and replaced them with 2 Goodyear tires. Now I have 2 Goodyears on the front, two Mastercrafts on the back that are dry rot andhave cracks in the rubber on the sidewalls. Again I called and told them I was not happy with what was put on the car. My original tires may have been somewhat bald but the rubber was not cracked. I do not feel safe driving with these Mastercrafts on the back of my car.

3rd day after the purchase...I called and talked to the owner on the phone. He was apologetic and said he would take the tires back and quoted me prices on the phone for 4 brand new Toyo tires or 4 Yokohama tires. I have the recorded message he left me. The owner said if I wanted new tires then he would sell me new tires and take the used tires back on trade and give me full credit.  I went in to talk to the owner the next day his attitude changed from the phone.  The price on the Toyo tires was way out of my range and he could not produce the Yokohama tires he quoted me.  The owner got somewhat rude with me and told me "don't know what you want...you got what you paid for".  He said he didn't remember what he quoted me.  His computer was always down and he couldn't look anything up.

At that point one of his workers goes outside with me and asks me to wait until the end of the week and he would have new tires for me.  I agreed to wait.

I called the shop at the end of the week and they did not have tires for me.  Once again I stressed that I would be very happy with the Yokohama tires that was quoted. The owners assistant said he would have 2 of them in the morning. I called the next day and he said he had the tires.

I went to the establishment to have the 2 new tires put on the front and in a few days I would replace the ones on the back with the same tire.  His assistant greets me outside and says the owner was in a meeting and was not available and they decided they didn't want to do business with me. He said they would give me $75.00 of my money back and I can keep the used tires. I proceeded to go inside to wait for the owner to get out of his meeting but he was not in a meeting.  He was sitting inside behind the counter. I didn't want half my money back and I didn't want the used tires that had to be put on my car and were sold to me because that was my only choice.  I set out to buy new tires, not used tires.  Burgess Tire did produced 2 new tires that morning however they were not the Yokohama's he quoted me.  The owners attitude was so rude and he was very sarcastic with me. I couldn't understand why they changed their minds on selling me the new tires. I was being extrememly patient in trying to resolve this matter.  The owner proceeded to tell me he couldn't satisfy my needs but he was also refusing to refund my money and give my old tires back. I proceeded to tell him that I researched tires and I would have been very content with the Yokohama all season radials that he quoted me. I couldn't understand why they had such a change in attitude.

With that being said the owner put the 2 new tires in front of me and said..."you said you know tires, take a good look at these, is that what you want". I asked if they were new all seasons and his response was..."you said you know tires, you take a good look at them and you tell me" and he refused to answer my questions in a professional business like manner.  He then asked me what the price was he quoted me on the Yokohama's and he divided that in half and charged me the difference minus 150.00. I really thought I was getting the Yokohama tire. I am not a tire expert and I really expected the store to recommend the right tire for my car. What he sold me is 2 Wanli tires that retail for approximately 56.00 each. They are a summer tire and not all seasonal radials. I now have 250.00 invested in 2 tires that are not what I asked for. I am currently looking elsewhere for 2 tires to replace the used dry rot mastercrafts they sold me that that are on the back of my car.

I feel I have been taken advantage of by Burgess Tire. The company is not honest in their presentation of what they have to offer. They will say whatever is necessary to make a sale. They were extremely rude and sarcastic. My tires were taken off my car, I was told they couldn't be put back on. I was told an incorrect size would work. I was presented with summer tires when I was specifically looking for all season radials The employees at Burgess had no concern for the safety of my vehicle by putting different size tires on the vehicle.
