8 weeks ago I gave Mike Buscarello of Buscarello Construction $4,500 as a downpayment on a job to repair the cornice on my row house in Park Slope. For 6 weeks he told me he was coming "next Thursday" with the necessary machinery to start the project - there was excuse after excuse. At that point we asked for our money back and after multiple texts and calls to his cell were not returned we called the company phone number and we spoke to a woman, whom we believe is his wife, who told us she would speak to Mike and he would be coming on Thursday (Nov 9) to start the work - and of course he did not show up, call or text. Calls and texts to that number were not answered and eventually we got a message our calls had been blocked. On Friday Nov 10 we used a different phone and again reached the same woman and this time asked for our money back. She told us she will speak to Mike and call us back to let us know when he would return our money.
So far no one has called. We have been advised that our next steps should be filing a police report and filing a complaint with the state's attorney general.
