The following is the e-mail trail I created while corresponding with Brett Jones at "Business Development Group". I deleted the name of one innocent business in the e-mail. After this email I received a call from one of Brett Jones "associates", asking me to go ahead and conference call my credit card company and have them do a balance transfer to another card ($5000). Don't do this! You have no recourse with either credit card company if you allow them to do this.

It's similar to a cash advance. I told him I wasn't comfortable doing that and he advised me that it was no problem and that Brett would be contacting me later. Well, after not receiving a call (what a surprise...) I tried contacting Brett (ext. 126) and ended up leaving a couple of messages for him. That was on 4/28/2004. I still haven't received a call or e-mail from him or the company. These guys are slick...BEWARE! Check out the other posts on this company. Be careful, there are quite a few aliases of other businesses working with/for this company. To get the full story, start at the bottom for my first email to Brett.

Subject: Awaiting more information

Brett, again I want to thank you for the phone call yesterday. Everytime I talk to you I get pumped up and ready to get this business started. Unfortunately, everytime you promise me an email with plan details or an outline, you haven't delivered (twice now). I know you may be busy, but you're in the business of customer service and should follow through with your commitments, especially if you want someone to make a substantial investment with you to help start their business. It doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence when basic promises for an email with more details aren't delivered. I've been looking forward to that email so that I can get started. It's already mid-week and I won't be here next week.

Also, your explanation below about your business not being "Business Development Group", doesn't really wash with me. Let me tell you why...

First, "Business Development Group" is listed with the Better Business Bureau (see this website: http://www.saltlakecity.bbb.org/commonreport.html?compid=19000013&national=Y ) at the following address: 923 South River Rd #104 St. George, UT 84790, telephone # (800) 488-5199. That's your business phone number Brett.

Second, the last time I spoke with Tysen, he mentioned that you and Frei are the company directors. Well, visit this site http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff73319.htm to see numerous complaints about the above listed business and Cason Frei. They discuss the same plans you're offering me right now. Every time I get a call from someone at your office, they tell me they're from Business Development Group (with some affilitation to XXXXXXXXXX), not "Home" Business Development Group.

Third, you gave me a cell phone number that I believe you full well knew didn't work any longer. If the service was turned off, why give me that number? I find it hard to believe that a business man such as yourself doesn't have a working cell phone on him at all times.

Fourth, you want me to do a transfer from my Credit Card to another card that you broker (with a lower rate), which for all intents and purposes is a cash advance from my card because if I have a problem with your services or it turns out to be a scam, I have no recourse available to me with either credit card company to get my money back. I'd be at your mercy. If everything I mentioned above is wrong, I await your response.

Brett, I want you to know that I want to work to get my business started and I'm truly serious about getting it started (with or without your help). I'm not trying to be too skeptical, but put yourself in my shoes and tell me what you'd do. You're either an honest guy working for a not-so-ethical company, a scam artist of the highest degree, or I have the whole thing just plain wrong. Please let me know which it is.

Sincerely,

Don

P.S.- I truly hope everything is on the up-and-up, because if the allegations made against "Business Development Group" are true, several federal statutes have been violated.

Donald,

Just got in this morning and wanted to take a minute to

respond to this email. I did a little digging and find

out who you are referring to. There is a company in

St. George, Business Development Group. I know the

owner of that company. It is a good company run by

good people. I don't know why those complaints were

generated. I just know that in my experience, many

times someone will complain, and in reality they

themselves aren't doing a darn thing. It's just their

way of trying to get out of a financial committment. I

am not saying that was the case there or not. But I

can say, I do know the owner of BDG and I think he is

an honerable guy.

Now onto my business. My company is Home Business

Development Group. Which I may be changing, if it

causes to much confusion to Home Business Association,

Ltd. Anyway, I don't have any complaints.

I need to get you going. I am excited to hear from you

and hope to speak with you this morning.

Brett

Brett, thanks for the phone call. I enjoyed

our conversation on Saturday. I haven't received an

email from you yet and just wanted to make sure you have my correct email address.

I guess you could call me the eternal skeptic, but

I always like to check out what I'm getting myself

into. There's a message board out there with some negative info. about your company:

I followed some of the links, read what the BBB had

to say and what ripoffreport.com had also. Not a very

glowing report. I'd like you to give me a warm fuzzy about the allegations they're making. I also read the rebuttals your company made on a couple of instances.

So far, you haven't asked me for any money, which is encouraging. I don't mind leveraging my credit cards to start a business because I know it takes money to make money, but I'll be using my money for setting up my business by purchasing products and services from other businesses, not just having it wired direct to your company, right?

I know I haven't really given you a chance yet, but I wanted to get this right out front so you understand where I'm coming from and what I'm seeing out there. I'm excited to get started and definitely interested in your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Don
