BuyAutoParts.com Sold Dangerous Defective Part San Diego California
I ordered an AC kit from Buy Auto Parts on July 22, 2014 and paid for it in full with my credit card. We had it installed into our 2002 Ford F350 by and ASE certified mechanic.
By September 10, 2014 as I was driving 65mph down highway 35, I heard a terrible thud then nothing but hot air was blowing out of the AC vents. I called Buy Auto Parts as soon as I got home from an approximate 200 mile trip.
I was told by a young man who stated his name was El Doppo? that if I would have my mechanic contact them with the diagnostic info that they would replace my part. My mechanic called them two days later and gave them the info they requested.
He was then told that he improperly oiled during his installation and that he should have added 9 and a half ounces of oil and that they would not cover the warranty. So my mechanic contacted Ford to double check himself and Ford told him that he was spot on in the installation of the AC kit and that no more than 7 ounces should ever be put in and that his measurements were correct.
My biggest concern is not about the money or the replacement of the part because we now have an brand new OEM part, but my concern is about all of the complaints I have read about this company selling defective AC kits to customers and the fact that when my husband came home and opened the hood of our truck the clutch face was laying inside the engine compartment.
I was informed that things could have been worse and I am concerned that someone else may not be as fortunate as I was on the road. Defective parts like this one can be hazardous to one's health.
