Cabarrus Pool Supply Aka Cabarrus Pool & Supply Aka International Son-Ry's Enterprises. Inc. deceptive company Concord North Carolina .....

We called this company because of their experience and reputation in the county. The owner explained he had been in business since 1982 and have won several design and construction awards for swimming pools. He then offered a photo portfolio which had some beautiful pools in it. He also stated he had an award winning pool designer "in house" who would ensure this high end pool was built correctly.

The pool turned out to be a disaster with defects so obvious they were apparent at a glance. For example the spa jets exited the walls at angles instead of being perpendicular to the wall for a flush fit. The main drain was not in the deepest part of the pool. The stairs that went to the upper part of the yard where the spa was located ranged in riser height from 8 inches up to 13 inches. Each defect was addressed with "so and so will take care of that" but the defects remained. Toward the end of the project the company simply stopped coming out to work despite a promised completion date. I sent several certified, return receipt letters stating my concerns and listing the defects but only received a demand for full payment.

I began to look deeply into this company and discovered the current owner had purchased the assets of Cabarrus Pool Supply, Inc in 1999. His corporation is International Son-Ry's Enterprises, Inc (formed in 1999). However, he filed assumed name certificates in the name of "Cabarrus Pool Supply" and "Cabarrus Pool & Supply". The only reason I can see for this is to make it appear he is the now defunct Cabarrus Pool Supply, Inc. Taking the deception farther, he lays claim to industry awards which were actually given to Cabarrus Pool Supply, Inc.

This Aqua Magazine Hall of Fame award he seems to be so proud of was actually awarded in 1996 - 3 years before his company even existed. His claim that he has been in business since 1982 is completely false - he moved to Cabarrus County in 1999. Now for the pictures in his photo portfolio - how could there be such beautiful pictures in his portfolio if he does such a crummy job? Simple - most of the pools in the portfolio were built by the now defunct Cabarrus Pool Supply, Inc. - not International Son-Ry's Enterprises, Inc / DBA / Cabarrus Pool Supply.

The owner's lack of response to our certified, return receipt letters generated a lawsuit in which we allege deceptive trade and breach of contract. The spa will not hold water - it seems they did not do a pressure test of the lines during constructon. Our independent pressure test revealed a significant leak in a line under the pool. Perhaps that is why we lost water and the steps to spa oozed water out of the concrete. There are many other defects as well. Of particular note is his response to the uneven step risers (cited by a certified engineer as a hazard)... the owner claims there are no stairs in the project - that they are really "decorative retaining walls". Not funny but it still made me laugh - what kind of idiot would swallow that explanation?

The owner has an appointment with the North Carolina Board of Contractors to explain the issues raised by the engineer - and I fully expect him to have his license suspended or revoked.

I have shared my findings with other customers who feel they were taken by this man. Several additional lawsuits were filed using what I dug up on this guy. It won't be too long before we get into court now.

Oh, I must mention I also complained to the BBB but the result was simply nothing. The BBB asked if I was willing to go to arbitration. My answer was no because I had already filed the lawsuit. The BBB then "administratively closed" the complaint against my wishes. They stated the company had done all it could do to resolve my complaint. It is my view the local BBB is simply a paid protection scheme who is out to make a buck from member companies and not protect the public.

The local YMCA had a spa installed by this company - and surprise, the spa seems to have a major leak. The YMCA folks told me they didn't understand, the BBB gave him a clean bill of health. Folks, watch out for the BBB they may not give you the real story on a company. The BBB in Charlotte carries FALSE information on this company.

My advice to those considering Cabarrus Pool Supply (International Son-Ry's Enterprises, Inc) is to not walk but RUN away and do NOT get sucked into their web of marketing deception. Check with the NC Secretary of State on the web - look up the owner's last name and see what company pops up and when it was formed. Then do a company search on "Cabarrus Pool Supply" and you will find the old company which last filed the required state reports in 1999. Check with www.aquamagazine.com and search the Aqua 100 Hall of Fame. You find the industry award was given to Cabarrus Pool Supply, INC. with Gerald Hinson listed as the principal - not the current owner. Note the "INC" behind "Cabarrus Pool Supply" - the current owner can't put INC behind his "Cabarrus Pool Supply" because his is an assumed name - not a legal corporation.

Remember, stay far away from this company unless you want face the real possibility of spending big money on legal fees to get your pool or spa right like me.

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Cabarrus Pools is not longer owned by International Son-Rys Enterprises. The company was sold in 2004 and is now owned by B&T Pools, Inc. The old management is not involved in the new company in any way. This report does not reflect the quality of the pools currently being built by Cabarrus Pools. We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and will be pleased to provide testimonials and references to interested parties. Despite the change in ownership, the Rip-off Report has refused to modify or remove this out-dated and mis-leading report.
