The judges on the California Supreme Court are biased against people who can't afford a lawyer and are forced to act as their own attorney. This is called socioeconomic bias, it is prohibited by the California Code of Judicial Ethics, and it is institutionalized in all California courts

The judges of the California Supreme Court are Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar, Justice Carol A. Corrigan, Justice Goodwin H. Liu, Justice Leondra R. Kruger, Justice Kathryn M. Werdegar (retired August 2017), Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, and Justice Ming W. Chin.

Socioeconomic bias is systemic and institutionalized in courts throughout California. State laws prohibiting socioeconomic bias go unenforced, and oversight and accountability is nonexistent.
