Jen or anyone else out there with answers. Jen -thank you for the advice and the hope that I too might be able to get my money back. I posted a full report on what's happened to me and it matches pretty much all of what you and the others have said (with small variations) ex. not only I get to go to Florida but I get a free cruise from the whole deal as well. I'm hoping you or anyone else can post something below and help me figure out how I can get a hold of these people in order to have my funds back. I'm also wondering who actually returned your money - was it Calypso Cay? or the vendor that called you? I assume the 3 addresses you found were of the vendor, correct? which website did you find with terms and conditions? the package you received in the mail; was it from the vendor or Calypso Cay? I will look forward to your post. Kindest regards

Dear Jen, I'm in the unfortunate position of having been ripped off for Calypso Cay as well. Like you, I was very angry when I found out I've been 'had'. I have tried calling their customer service numbers in Australia and in Singapore but the lines were dead. I have emailed them and am not getting any response. I then Googled the company name and found a link to your Rip-Off Report. It matches what happened to me 100%. I'm here hoping that you could lend me your help. Particularly, I hope to know how you got your money back. (1) What are the 3 addresses you sent your letters of demand to?; (2) How did you draft your letter of notice? Did you get the help of a legal centre?; (3) How did you get your bank to help? Anything you can tell me would be most appreciated. Thank you so much

Firstly, to anonymous thankyou for your very kind offer of assistance. I realise that employment is precarious thing at the best of times and I admire your courage at posting here with information. I have managaed after a couple of months and a fair bit of haggling to get a refund from Calypso Cay for the vacation package. Here's what I did: I contacted my bank and made a statement to the fraud squad at my local police station. I detective there investigated and found that on acount of CC being an overseas company NSW Police had no jurisdiction but she did contact my bank with information and had a large part in their agreement to reimburse. I lodged a credit card dispute with my bank because the amount charged was approximately $300 over what I was told and the company name was also different. This got the ball rolling until I was able to make the dispute on the goods never arriving. I searched the internet and made some phone calls and found 3 possible mailing addresses for the company. After being hung up on, being given false fax numbers and put on hold never to be retrieved I figured that mail would be best. I found a web site with terms and conditions on it and also found a piece of Florida legislation requiring Calypso Cay to refund my money. I wrote a letter of notice of cancellation requiring the money to be returned within 2 weeks. I sent this to 3 addresses. At this point I still had not received anything from the company, not an email, phone call or the package as promised. Approximately 7 days later I received a Vacation Package sent via express post. Obviously reacting to my letter. I returned the package with a new cancellation letter and a copy of the previous one. This time as with the first I threatened legal action or to report the company. The money was refunded into my account approximately 1 week later. I have received no correspondence, but the money has been returned. So it can be done, and though it required a bit of effort, on principle I am pleased to have found some justice. What they are doing is wrong and they ought be made responsible for taking people for a ride, but I think that they are fairly safe from anyone finding them when most of us reside here in Australia. My one word of advice is to keep on them. We are not the only ones to be taken for a ride and they will not return the money unless you give them no other choice. Also I tried to report them to the Orlando Better Business Bureau for investigation but they lack sufficient information. It might be worthwhile to attempt to do so also. They may be able to take some action locally. Finally, if this has happened to you I would be happy to give you addresses and information I used to track them down if that helps. Post here and I will contact you by email. Good Luck.

To whom it may concern, I have just recently been employed by Miracle Trips Travel Center, which I believe is a subsiduary of the company you mention. My job so far has been to read out a telemarketing script to people calling in from Australia. The details of this script are eerily familiar with what has been posted so far, including the discount price of 598$ US for a package that includes 6 days 5 nights in Orlando, 3 days 2 nights in Daytona beach, followed by 3 days 2 nights in the Bahamas. Having hard time paying my rent and bills with my first job as a waiter, I decided to work this as a second job, given the convenience of the office being close to where I live. Having worked in the Call Center industry for over 7 years, I was somewhat suspicious to enter an office with no computers, simple residential phones and dishevelled furniture. It was my impression that the office and its furnishings were easy to part from in case anything happens. The people that work in my office seem honest, for the most part new to the city of Montreal, Canada and sympathetic to a precarious economic situation such as mine (newly immagrated, moonlighters, single mothers). The script that I read does mention a charge of 598 and we are specific that this amount is in US funds. It does mention there is a 30 day refund period and the amount that was won is considered a discount. Furthermore, there is clear indication that airfare, incidentals, government port and processing fees are not included. We were explained that the reason they can afford such a low price is because of a Time Sharing presentation that is offered once the person has arrived to Orlando. They presumably have solid statistics indicating that at least one out of every ten people will sign up for this program, and the money dispensed by Mr./Ms. #10 more than covers for the trips of the nine others that refused. I have never contacted the customer service line that we give out to anyone interested, though I have seen the website and it does seem like a legally correct, low budget company at best, or a downright "boiler room" fraud shop at worst. Regardless of which, I am willing to colaborate with anyone that has inquiries and listen to stories of their own if it can help you and me shed some light on the subject. The office is located at 360 Cremazie blvd. West Montreal Canada. I do not have their phone number or postal code. But at least now you know where they are located. I am somewhat fearful of reprisals on behalf of my company. I may lose my job and they have my SIN and permanent code. I can therefore not leave my full name on this posting but I do have the conscience weighing down on me for working at a place suspected of fraud. Please understand that I decided to take this job because I am trying to make a living on my own, and I do not have any evidence, beyond reasonnable doubt, that the company I work for is defrauding people on a systematic basis. If you have further information, or you are a member of government (local or foreign), a lawyer or advocacy group, or simply someone with a story, my ears are open and I will prove colaborative even if this turns me into an unemployed whistleblower. [email protected] 514-277-1751 I work 80 hours a week so I may not be replying immediately. I am actually cutting down on my 5 hours a day sleep to simply post this comment. Although I sympathize to those who may have been victims of fraud, and will be understanding (if not unresponsive) to hate mail or harassing calls, I do expect to have some (call it karmic rebalancing of one's deeds) With kind regards and honest intentions, Anonymous

So I have been doing my best to track this company down, and have been hung up on, disconnected and put on hold for indeterminate periods of time. The website given has a false login, you can type anything and enter the 'members only' section. I have still not received anything in the mail, or by email as invoice of the purchase. But I am determined to track down the company and my lost money. I have found another website www.calyspocayresort.com which has a list of terms and conditions that I am looking at. The merchant ID of the company is 4301330022381727. Seeing how many more people have posted with the same story has only made me more determined to find out more. I would be interested in any information or ideas you might have!

www.ccayresort.com Sorry I have decided not to post Merchant ID until I have made a little more headway with my bank. I have still made very little success in finding them. Thanks for your help.

This is a very well known scam in Florida. Most people overseas do not end up taking the trip, but if they do, it ends up being a timeshare presentation. I'm curious, what website were you given? Also, you said the bank gave you the merchant id's? I would love to know them. I work in merchant banking and have been following these kinds of scams for awhile now. If you could let me know I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
