Sounds pretty groovy. Where did you get your info? When I spoke with the FTC and Trans-Union, I was told in very simple terms that a CA can pull an inquiry if for no other reason than to obtain current information for the account in question regardless of its validity. As for being assigned a debt, this is NEVER the case with agencys such as sCAMCO. These accounts are PURCHASED not assigned. As for supporting documentation, most bottom feeder CAs don't have ANYTHING. That's where the consumer can spank 'em because without PROOF CAs are powerless altogether. If you've got REFERENCES that state otherwise, I'm all ears.

These companies only have permission to pull a credit report if they actually have been assigned to collect the debt, and if the debt is true. In the one person's case, the claim Camco was making was entirely false, therefore, any reports drawn on this person were fraudulently obtained. My fiance was just sent a letter by Camco, yes, he at one time had a Montgomery Wards account, that his ex-wife was to have paid. She contacted MW and had paperwork sent and furnished to change it over to her name. Thereby relinquishing all liability against my fiance of this debt. That, and the debt they are claiming is about 3 times what it was when they split up, and the ex didn't make any further charges against it. I am in the process of disputing this and another company that claims they both defaulted, and yet they can not produce paperwork stating a credit line was approved other than an initial and standard credit application.

sCAMCO does inquirys for the purpose of collecting a debt. It's legal. That SUCKS but it's the law. This is how this wretched organization does it's thing. It EXPLOITS flaws in the FTC titles. There's lots of 'em and guess what, the consumer is holding the short end of the stick.

Believe me when I tell you, anyone that CAMCO tries to rip off, they get your TU report befor they even write you by pulling an illegal permissible purpose copy. They pay TU for this service, and it is a shame that personal info falls in these robbers hands. Get your reports any of you, but look a the date of their pull on your TU, and you will see, they pull them months before they contact you. Report this to the FTC, your AG, their AG, and Banking commissioner. This should be outlawed.
