My son was a 13 year old, obese child. A few days into the camp, they had him run into this jello pit with many other children. He slipped and fell. The camp is run NOT by adults but by overworked, underpaid and unknowlegable teens. They all start yelling at my child "stand up, put pressure on your leg!" My son broke his leg!.I get a phone call at 10 a.m. "You never gave us a copy of your insurance card, we need a copy." I start freaking out "what are you talking about? of course you have a copy. why do you need my card? what happened to my son?" She then tells me they think he broke his leg. I ask to speak to him, she tells me he's not available. Since my son is not allowed to have his phone in camp,I can't speak to him. I beg the woman to please call me to let me know what is going on with my child. She was very rude and hung up
I heard from my son 12 hours later!! The following day when I went to pick up my child,I am upset. My child is in crutches, for 12 hours I didn't know what was going on with my child. By the way, they do not have a phone number that you can call in case of an emergency; so your child is not allowed to have a phone and after 5 p.m. you can't reach the camp. "Scary, isn't it?". I speak to the camp owner, David Ettenberg, he is so empathetic, he treated me like I was crazy, he never apologized. He did tell me he was going to refund my money since my child was only there a few days. That was a year ago, I still haven't received my refund. If you love your children, Do Not Send Them to This Camp!
