TUESDAY, MAY 8, 2012 went into Camping World and spoke to Ken at the service desk. I told him I needed a rear air conditioning unit on my motor coach. I stated that I wanted a 15,000 BTU unit with NO heat pump plus a thermostat. I gave him the numbers that came DIRECTLY off my old unit. He stated that they could not come off the unit because one was a thermostat number. Of course I had to explain that I wrote the numbers down while a repairman called them out to me. He still insisted that they were the wrong numbers. I told him that we are arguing for nothing because I still needed a unit.

Well, he made a few calls and then asked me for the numbers he had earlier refuted. He gave them to the person he was talking to on the phone. Finally, he stated that because my two units worked in conjunction, I would have to go back in with the same unit and thermostat (13,500 BTU with heat pump). I asked if he was sure that this was the only way and he said yes. So, I told him to go ahead with that one. He said that was good because they had that one in stock with the thermostat. The price would be $749 for the unit and less than $100 for the thermostat, $1060 total installed without tax. I told him to do that and we set a date and time for the work.

TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012 We arrived at 1:00 PM for a 1:30 appointment. We asked Ken if there was a place we could walk and eat lunch and he said about a quarter mile up the road. My wife and I walked to a near by restaurant for lunch (no offer to drive us). It was actually about a mile.

After we got back, we waited and waited and waited. Finally, about 4:00 PM Ken happily informed us that they ordered the wrong unit (remember, he had stated that they had it in stock). He stated that a 15,000 BTU wouldnt work on my coach. I informed him, that we had already gone through this and that HE stated it would not work. He remembered then! Oh, but then he went on to tell me that the CORRECT unit would be $1150 and the thermostat was $127. I asked why the difference and he gave me a song and dance about how they had to order it and that would cost more.

I told him to just put my old unit back on to cover the hole and would come back later after he got the other unit. He said my old unit would not fit back on because of some gasket problem. He asked, if I would mind if we just left the WRONG new unit on until the other one comes in. I agreed as long as the front unit was still working. Evidently he either did not want to or just did not check with his tech because when we got back to our park, the front unit did not work either. I figured it was not completing the circuit with the rear unit being unwired. I called them upset and they said the manager (Ron) would call me. He did, while I was out. He left a message with no call back number, but stated he would call back. As of 9:24, Thursday, May 17, 2012, he has not called back!

Now, we are stuck with no air conditioning for at least five days and it is HOT in Texas! I had to go buy $75 worth of fans and my rig costs seventy cents a mile to operate. It is about 40 miles, there and back, to Camping World.

So, in my opinion, I was lied to, put off, price jacked and forced to pay a lot of, what should have been, unnecessary expense!

THURSDAY, MAY 17, 2012 FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON ME! FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON YOU! I'm done!

Ron, the so-called General Manager finally contacted me. He hap-hazardly apologized and then told me that I could have the 15000 BTU unit without the heat pump, as I had first requested. He went to tell me how he had been on the phone all day to make sure that this unit would work. He also stated that in the rare instance it did not work, if I got there early enough, he would personally go in his pick up and pick one up. He went on to tell me that I would get the better unit completely installed, with my running lights, for $999. This is where he lost me; he went on to tell me how much he was "eating" on the deal and explained how he was eating all the labor and I was getting a better unit for less money. I went on to tell him that the "eating" goes both ways. My rig/home costs me seventy cents a mile without wear and tear. It was 44 miles round trip to Camping World. Plus the complete aggravation through this situation. So, after a bit of business like back and forth, never cussed or raised my voice, I asked when I could get this done.

Ol' Ronnie Boy stated the earlier the better. I asked what time they opened and he told me eight o'clock, but if I could be there a bit earlier it would help. So, I told him that I'd be there before eight. He told me that he would personally meet me when I got there.

Well, I arrived at 7:50 am and there was no Ron to be found. They finally told me that he was in an office which "he could not be disturbed in" and that he would be with me in a few. During the wait, Ken (I had referred to him as Gene previously), came to me and very sincerely apologized. He apologized for everything and even tried to cover for Ron. I was impressed.

Well, they did the work they were supposed to do in the first place, I paid them and I drove out assuming I had a 15000 BTU unit. You should never "assume"! I guess Ron figured that I was too dumb to notice, but they put a 13500 BTU unit on. Yep, Ol' Super Slick Ronnie did not "EAT" a thing, except for the labor, which his store messed up on! Ain't life grand?

Hey Camping World, do what you want, but I doubt seriously that your company has enough "CLASS" to make this right.

Oh yeah, McClains is right next door and they are a very good place to get work done. I wish that I had used them in the first place. Oh well, you live, pay and learn!
