Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had a Capital One card since 2009. In 2012 I  had been laid off my employment and between March and June made no less than 6 requests to use the balance protection insurance. While they told me fine they never applied it. I have bank statements showing payments until July 2012, after my final request to have the insurance applied to my payments and being told it would be done. In November someone contacted me saying they were calling from Capital One as the account had not been paid for 4 months with no explanation as to why the insurance had not been applied.

They also had added additional charges to raise the balance to 880 past my 500 credit limit. Also during those months in 2012 when I supposedly wasnt paying they sent me a new card and forms to increase my credit limit with, which I declined the forms.   I instructed them to place the 500 deposit onto the balance and I would pay the remaining 380 in December. My payment was posted in January. In May 2013 I was told there had been a horrible system error and my account was never closed. I decided to look at my credit reports and are horrified at what I have found.

The months I paid are noted as delinquent or unpaid even though they were paid more than a few hundred dollars from March 2012 - June 2012.  They have it reported I failed to make a payment in January even though the final payment was posted and there was no balance left outstanding then. A recent statement sent to me is showing that effective June 2013 my account is going to be closed and reported to the credit bureaus as such, even though it is reported they closed it in November 2012 with an outstanding balance after collections involvement. They now tell me an investigation was done in May, all was correct and woud stand as it was.

I never spoke to a manager until June and he is supposed to be investigating now, so not sure why there was an investigation in May 2013. Wondering if anyone else has had this nightmare with them and what steps you took to correct it because they have taken my credit score from high 700's down to 586 and even though my mortgage and car loan are excellent with no missed or late payments, good luck to me securing any financing after Capital One wrecked my rating after I requested they apply their balance protection insurance I had faithfully been paying for.
