You can always pull up statements online. It will list the dates and amounts of all deposits. I have never heard of a bank denying a deposit months later..unless a bad check or money order was used for deposit. Sometimes those will clear, but weeks, sometimes even many months later...will bounce.
If these were cash deposits unless the money was found to be counterfeit...I can't believe there is any legal way the bank could deny it months later..it just makes no sense at all. And even if it was counterfiet..how would they know it was from you months later?
Surely there is some form of recourse for you? Did you try filing a federal dispute form E which you can get from the bank?

I remember once talking with a father that had his son put
money into a bank savings account, and when it came time to take some of the money
out the bank had scammed his child out of all his savings using FEES. He was
shocked! He also was an attorney and vowed to find a way to get back at this
nasty bank. What you have presented is unconscionable - and I hope that you can
get the money back. Sadly, if you read the thousands of complaints on this site
about services, banks, financial institutions, loan and mortgage companies, the
overall impression is no one is minding the needs of their customer/clients and
any kind of evil practice goes. There are a few films that helped me begin to
understand how deep this corruption is and how it infects all peoples around
the world. To mention three MAXED OUT, THE CORPORATION, and THE END OF POVERTY?
This may be helpful with the new regulatory agency being created since the
complaint will be filed for review. The more that complains the better. You may
have the girl-scouts parents do the same since they must also be disgusted by
this tactic. My suggestions is that you make a report and place it in this site:

to respond to number twos' statement.
i had witnesses and 4 people counted the money before the deposit was put in.
i would never jeapordize myself or my girls and keep the money. i have been a leader for too many years.
when they didn't even have the cashiers check on the deposit i knew there was going to be trouble.

Don't banks typically have cameras on the tellers? Mine does... Also, wouldn't her cash drawer been off by a few thousand? Seems to me something is definitely not right here. If she was able to give you a receipt for the deposit, the money went SOMEWHERE. I would try the corporate offices and keep notes of every phone call. If you think the teller somehow managed to pocket the money, contact an attorney.
