Capital Van Hire budget van Hire UK Van Hire - Credit Card Abuse Internet
I write to inform you as to how our Cricket Club have been defrauded by Capital Van Hire. After researching (on the internet) Capital Van Hire, it appears that they are habitual fraudsters. I enclose a link at the end of this letter.
After making enquiries, on 24th December 2011 a member of our cricket club (Mr Le Cornu) received an email quote from Budget Van Hire UK to hire a mini-bus for our Club Cricket Tour to England in August 2012.
The quote was for 349.00 plus 56.00 for 2 extra drivers to collect from and return to Gatwick Airport from the 24/08/12 to 27/08/12, this quote was valid for only a short period.
On the 24th March 2012 the same club member telephoned Budget Van Hire to ask about the booking (he was aware that the quote had expired) . However they confirmed that the price quoted in December still stood. He was asked to pay a deposit of 199.00 (which he did by bank transfer on the same day the 24th March) leaving a total of 206.00 to pay Budget Van Hire the company we hired the van from and to whom we paid the deposit (in the name of Le Cornu) either no longer exist or have changed their name. Capital Van Hire appears to have taken over the agreement to rent us a mini bus for 3 nights and 4 days.
On the 23 August - the day before we were due to collect the mini-bus from Gatwick Airport Capital Van Hire PLC deducted 1698.80 from my wife and my MasterCard account. (we didnt know this at the time)
The Mini-bus was returned to their satisfaction, without damage and with the agreed level of fuel at the agreed time and place. ( I have a document to prove this)
On the 29 August 2012 Capital Hire PLC refunded to our account the sum of 289.40 from the overcharge. We have no idea what this sum represents and why they did not refund the full amount of 1492.80.
We have been overcharged 1203.40 by Capital Hire PLC.
My wife and I telephoned Capital Van Hire in excess of 20 times in an effort to obtain a refund of 1203.40 which was owed.
We have spoken by telephone to many people at Capital Van Hire PLC including Richard Scott, Simon Andrews, Jake Woods (regional Manager of Capital Hire) Tony, Liam and Craig. All of these telephone calls resulted in a similar outcome, one where we were asked to call another number and speak to another person. These people seemed well rehearsed in their methods. We were given various email addresses to contact, many of which seem to be invalid. On several occasions when calling them the staff would simply say oh not you again and put the receiver down. Often they were rude and abusive and on two occasions Liam swore at my wife using four letter expletives.
Telephoning was getting us nowhere.
As I have said we were given email addresses and we had our original contact email address and after receiving an Invoice from Capital we had another contact address. We repeatedly wrote to all these email addresses, I have copies of all the emails sent to Budget Van hire, Capital Van Hire, Customer relations at Capital Van Hire, Mr Richard
Scott from Capital Van Hire and info @capitalvanhire.co.uk.
Emailing was getting us nowhere.
On the 10 September Capital sent us an invoice by email which seems to be their attempt to justify their overcharge. This invoice is incorrect and does not bear any resemblance to the quotation received in the email and subsequent telephone conversation with Mr Le Cornu. I wrote back to them at the same email address on the same day, their email address would not accept my email.
I researched the Internet and found out that there are many victims of Capital Van Hires unethical practises - Please look at this site it is very enlightening.
