I feel so stupid after reading all the reports here for these cheating thieves.
I too received a very official looking letter in the mail stating that I have been guaranteed approval for a credit card with a $5000.00 credit line and 0% interest for 12 months.
All I had to do to receive it was make the corrections to the mailing info they had and to send them a check or money order for $39.00 or $43.00 for rush delivery. There was also mention of a Dream Rewards Program. We get offers in the mail all the time and I usually just throw them out, but this one sounded good. I guess if it sounds too good to be true it is.
We just had a baby and babies need things so I thought this was a legitimate offer and a way to ensure that we would be able to get the things Ryan needs whenever he needed them so I sent a check for $43.00 thinking I was going to get a credit card in the mail in a week or so.
That was three weeks ago. My bank account said the check was cashed and every day I was checking the mail, but no card. I decided to go online and get the number and call up to ask where my card was and I found this page and realized that I was had BIG TIME.
As I sit here now I realize what my $43.00 paid for. I received an offer in the mail from a company called CCA for a shopper card with 0% interest and a $6,000 credit limit. I could also use it through a particular check cashing service to get cash advances. There was a $200.00 membership fee and you could only purchase items through their catalogs. They would automatically take the amount you owed them each month out of your account electronically. The card was with the letter. All I had to do was call a number to activate it and I couyld begin shopping. As this IS NOT something I am interested in I cut up the card and threw it away without calling to activate it. Now I realize it was part of Capitol Consumer Credit's scam.
I am very upset because, as I said, we have a little baby and money is tight. That $43.00 could have been used to buy him food and formula - not wasted on some scum bag theives who are out to take honest hard working money away from people like me.
In a way I am more fortunate than others because reports I have read here say people have paid 100.00 - 200.00 to this fradulant company. At least I only lost $43.00.
I feel very cheated. I was promised a credit card in the mail I thought I would be able to use at any store I choose with 0% interest and $5000.00 in credit - not some useless piece of crap shopper card for overpriced catalogs. Nowhere in the original letter is this mentioned anywhere because if it was I certainly would not have sent them my money. It looked and sounded like every other offer we have gotten in the mail. We usually just throw them out - and how I wish I had done that in this case. As I said before - if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is! I also wish I had found this site before I sent off that check too. A lesson was learned here - I am not going to pay anyone for anything without making sure I know who it is going to and what I am getting in return.
