I called an ad in the San Jose Mercury News that stated "warehouse jobs $18.00 p/hr plus benefits with guaranteed placement." I spoke to Tanisha Grey and she asked me where I live. Then she said that they have many jobs in my area. The requirements were that I must be able to start immediately. I agreed then she said I must pay a one time fee of $195.00 by money order for guaranteed placement. I was then told to give her the tracking number on the money order and to send it through the UPS store with the account #92002F which is their UPS account number. I sent the money order and was instructed to send my resume to [email protected]. attn: Ariel this was done on thursday April 16th 2009. I was told I would receive a response back within 48 hours with information about where I would be employed. I received no call back so when I called I was told to leave my name and number and will be called back by a supervisor. I was told that Tanisha Grey was the supervisor but she told me that she will call her supervisor and give her my information. I received no call back so when I called the next day they my suspicions were confirmed so I reported them to the state controller but have not recieved a response back, the BBB of Florida and the San Jose Police because they were doing business in San Jose,California by placing an ad in the Mercury news. I hope this information is shown to potential victims of this scam. I know people will say being desperate and naive is what we are but I am glad I dont have that Karma coming around back at me. Hang in there people, I found myself a job now making less than half of what I used to, but I'm greatful for it. Anyway, the website is now down and so is the phone number. I hope that 195 dollars they scammed me out of is going to cost them much more in fines.

Reported to the state attorney general

#2Author of original report

It looks as though Susan Bright is the head honcho at Careerhotline. I received a follow up letter from the state attorney general and a letter from Susan stating that I was a customer that could not be satisfied and I would be refunded my full 195.00. Then a copy of a check written for the amount was sent to me, but I have not received the original check. So it looks like careerhotline is a scam that has been continuing to operate without repercussions from anyone not even the state attorney general. I will contact them again, but I doubt they will do anything to stop these immoral individuals who feed on the most unfortunate in this bad economy. Please do not pay the fee for a promise of a warehouse job that is guaranteed because you will never see your money again.
