Ok so I am in the process of getting the car fixed. Only after I reported them to the BBB and the Federal Trade Commision, are they willing to do anything. What is bothering me the most though, is they want to use their parts to fix the car and not new ones claiming they are too exspensive. Even the mechanic who runs the shop was appallled at how they spoke to him on the phone and I quote stating "well we are paying for it so the customer will just have to wait". How wonderful! He said that he will itemize everything wrong and put it in writing as well as the comments made about me. So we will see. I will update again soon.

When buying a used car, it's really buyer beware. That doesn't excuse the way operations like CarHop do business. My step daughter bought a car there and had a similar experience. The care was way overpriced, the payments were actually more than what a new car would have been, and the car broke down, the engine failed. Another engine was installed under the warranty, but it was a used, dirty engine in worse shape than the previous one, and never worked well. As the person above states, CarHop doesn't seem to be able to address the problems any competent mechanic would be able to, even working at home. I had to replace both front wheel bearings in the car myself, as they were grumbling and screeching, though CarHop said this was "normal". She finally traded it back to them for another car (that car was a lemon too), as it was just one problem after another. I think we all know that a used car will have some issues, but it's obvious from this and other stories I have heard that CarHop is mainly interested in getting you to sign a loan paper, rather than selling a used car that has been thoroughly inspected with necessary repairs made, as any reputable dealer would do. They prey on people who are "desperate", with poor credit, who feel they have nowhere else to go. Buying a used care privately would be a far better option for most people, and would save them a lot of money.

We do not do full inspections on the cars that we sell. Most times we "Rig" them to just barley get them to work long enough to where you are stuck in the contract. Our service department uses used parts to fix the cars so you never really know how good it will run afterwards. Again Carhop and UAC are the same company under the umbrella Interstate Auto Group. trust me google it. You are just another person who was suckered into a contract that in my opinion is unethical. What we do in my opinion is wrong and unethical on so many levels, but I need a job! I hope with my postings on this site and others keeps people from going to Carhop, if I am able to do that then perhaps it will make up for the unethical things I am/have done. It will be very difficult to do a class action against this company, due to the fact that legally the contract is very solid, and we are selling used cars that is always a buyer beware. There are things that are being done that you may catch them on violations during the collection process, or giving incorrect or misleading statements to get you to sign a contract. My advice to those who have been duped by us, is to go to the media, not a station that we advertise on. If the media were to do an investigative report things would be exposed. Picket the locations, you have experienced something awful make it your goal to prevent others from going through the same experience. Get together and pool your money to do advertisement, ect. My advice for those not yet a customer.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! **There are some cars that don't have as many issues then other cars, but those are rare.

I agree that I should of looked the car over more carefully. The seatbelts were working fine when I drove off the lot and the engine light was also not on when I drove off the lot. I didn't realize how bad the tires were untill a few weeks later. I took it to the shop and had to buy 4 new tires only to find out that my alignment is off as well. To make a long story short, I was laid off of work and my previous car was repoed due to lack of payment. At the time I felt car hop was my only choice but I should of just waited and kept catching the bus until something else came up. I've been without a car for a long time and needed to get my kids around. Anyway, even if I was dumb in picking the car, a "REPUTABLE" company wouldn't even think of putting a car like that on the lot. When I purchased my former car from the dealership, they never treated me like that and always gave me loaner when mine broke down. I am just going to hurry up and pay them off and trade the thing in for something much better with good customer service and not have to deal with idiots.

Why did you buy a vehicle with bad tires...bad seat belts.....etc? DID YOU NOT LOOK at this vehicle before you bought it? Did you test drive it? Have a mechanic look at it, in it and under it? I dont understand why you didnt check this out BEFORE signing the papers on it?? What you did was buy the first vehicle offered to you because it "looked good" and seemed right. Did you not stop and tell yourself.....this is something Im going to be using frequently...something Im going to be paying on for a long long time ....this vehicle has to be safe and run good.?? Probably not because as you said....you were excited. UGH

Why would you not test the seat belts and tires in a used vehicle that is over 10 years old before signing a contract to buy it? Tires are called Routine Maintenance for a reason. Because they routinely have to be replaced. Has anyone told you about Oil changes and tune ups?

Thank you for sharing your very positive experience with Derek, your CarHop salesperson. We take our customer service very seriously and are always open any feedback which can help us better assist our customers. It is truly unfortunate when any customer is unsatisfied at anytime. CarHop will share your concerns with UAC, your finance company, so that both CarHop and UAC can provide training where needed. Regarding your vehicle concerns, it is unfortunate that unforeseen problems do sometimes occur with used vehicles. Therefore, to best assist our customers, every vehicle purchased includes an 18 month / 18,000 limited warranty. Since this is a limited warranty, the covered items are clearly listed in the paperwork which each customer receives prior to purchase and customers are allowed the opportunity to test drive the vehicle before purchase. To further ensure our customers are best cared for, we ask each customer to watch a short video before purchase which openly asks each customer not to sign anything unless they are in full understanding of all paperwork and pleased with their purchase. We find this extra step encourages any final questions from our customers and help ensure their satisfaction. These are just a few examples why CarHop continues to have a long-standing A rating with the Better Business Bureau.
