CARMAX, Bought a car from CARMAX, car is at the shop more than it is at home Miami Florida
I purchased a vehicle from CARMAX a year ago. I trusted the name and the company, they advertise a tremendous inspection process that their mechanics follow before putting a car on their lot for sale.
the car is in a horrible mechanic condition. It has been at the shop for almost once a month since I bought it. Air conditioning failed, Oil leaked, spark plugs koils broke, one every week. Air coolant tank and hoses broke, Suspension system failed, five times, each time, the dealer did not know what happened, used trial and error to fix it. Brake light wouldn't turn off. ignition would not turn, twice. Finally I decided to trade it in, and to my surprise, the dealer tells me the car had a paint job, probably been in an accident. Trunk ddor does not stay open. cigarette lighter outlet does not work now. I leave the dealer and I know I am coming back next week.
I don't know what to do, I bought the car for $40,000 a year ago and now it is worth $19,000 if any. Carmax wouldn't even take the car to their shop, they ask me to take it directly to the dealer, which is a higher deductable. Carmax advertises they have the cleanest used cars on their lots. Then why am I always driving the rental car provided by the warranty I purchased? thank god I did.
Carmax even has a DEMO car in the showroom with body damage. They explain they will never sell us such cars !!!!
I hope someone can join me and find a way to stop carmax from deceiving the consumer.

I am having the same issue with my 19800.00 wreck that has turned out to be a lemon. The reason why the car is a lemon there are things you don't see on the inside that are damaged during the accedent or impact. When the vehicle is struck there is alot of energy that travels through your vehicle. this energy will blow seals, shatter parts, much more as we are finding out. Carmax just didn't repair a finder binder on my vehicle, it should of been a total. I can't believe they are not telling people they are buying a wreck that has been repaired at our hack shop of a paint shop. I am telling you donot listen to the employees or ex-employees that post they are full of it. I feel sorry for them they are just as minipulated as we were. They seem to feel a justification in selling someone something that has perminant damage. I will never buy a car at carmax again!

I see a rebuttal from an employee of Carmax. Unfortunately, I think the rebutter didn't really read the comments you made: beyond just panel damage, it appears your car has several other issues which, if actually inspected as their ads claim, would have been caught before the car reached the lot. Based on my personal experience with Carmax, I personally think that, due to staffing issues, quality of personel,and budgetting issues at some sights, many many many of the cars you drive home from a Carmax lot are NOT inspected as promised. I hope you complain about EVERY little issue that occurs with your car, despite the issues you have already dealt with. Don't let them send you to the dealer. They have a service department,and should be fixing the car under the warranty. Good luck.

If your car is truly that much of a lemon they will usually work with. Carmax won't sell a vehicle that was in a major accident and panels will be repainted if the cosmetics are in poor quality. It sounds like you purchased a ford product as well. Even new car dealerships repaint panels. For example if a car gets scratched up on the truck they will simply just do a quick paint job. Carmax will not purposely sell a piece of junk. They provide the third largest auto auction in the US. They simply sell the poor quality vehicles they purchase at their auction and sell it to another dealership.
