Ralph & Pat cruised on the Carnival Glory from 3-10 Nov.,2007. Prior to arriving at Belize City, our 2nd port, we attend a shopping seminar on the ship where Sean briefed us on where to shop and exploited the virtues of buying at a Carnival store since Carnival would stand behind and guarantee any items purchased there. Pat ended up buying a Tanzanite ring at a price of $2,410. and we left the ring at the store for 2 hours while it was being downsized.

The next day, we sailed to Roatan, went ashore and upon returning to the ship discovered discovered that the stone was missing from the ring. We found the tanzanite stone in Pat's shopping bag and immeadiately contacted Sean who told us "not to worry", that DI would repair the ring upon our return to the states. I asked him if he could have it remounted at our next stop, Freeport and he informed us that if anyone but DI worked on the ring, the warranty would be "null and void". Upon returning to port we called DI in New York on 12 Nov.,2007 and were informed by "Rod" that before he could give us an authorization number to ship the ring, he needed all the paper work involving the sale and that the repair would take 4-6 weeks.

Frustrated by this, we went to a reputable Goldsmith who told us he could repair it in 30 minutes. While examining the ring, he asked us a few specific questions about the ring and size of the stone, we informed him that the stone was 1.88 carat and he proceeded to weigh it in front of us at 1.63 carats. He suggested that we should contact DI prior to having it remounted which we did. DI's initial offer was a $200. refund, then a $300. refund. Pat refused both of them; told Rod that she no longer trusted the company and wanted a full refund. Carnival has told us (Sandy) that DI wanted to save the "deal" and refused to honor their guarantee. DI refuses to give us a return authorization number unless we agree to accept another ring despite their full refund offer. I can only wonder how many other people who bought their jewelry have been duped.
