I am a CEO for a oil and gas company. I was presented an offer by an individual named Carson Jones. "Carson Jones" contacted me unexcepedly with a conceivable story of how his step father owned a oil and gas company, and that his step father passed away and that he is looking for a small company to pass his step fathers investors onto. Of course looking to make a profit in it for himself.

Not here to rant, but to warn other oil and gas consulting companies of how detailed Carson Jones is in selling a bogus lead lists. He has others that are into together collaborating with him purporting to be investors as part of the leads. I am very judicious in not falling for scams and was so in this instance also, but his story was seemingly believable.

Now indignant about being scammed out of 2,000 dollars for this fake lead list, I am hoping that he continues to use this "Carson Jones" name and others do their due diligence and research him before falling for it. What to notice for in his story in case he is changing names: Claims he his in the restaurant  business now ( Operating CJ's across Arkansas ), was broker ( obvious by his knowledge of the industry ). Lead list comes from his step dad ( Operating under name Neptune Energy ).

Been buying leads off the guy for 6 years plus now, always been happy.

Not all of the leads have been perfect but Carson always replaces them or offers a partial refund.

I guess it's like a google review, when you sell 1,000 people not everyone is happy, no business is perfect.

I buy leads all of the time and have fallen for this. I have heard the same story a few times recently but using a different name and the person was from Houston or Dallas.  There are allot of lead brokers with over exaggerated stories.

This person is likely a broker from Texas, since that is where the collaborators are from.

When I buy leads now I follow a few simple rules.

1. Request at least 10+ samples. 5 is not enough

2. Have the person verify their Identity with a drivers license, they might be using somebody elses name.

3. Offer to pay half up front, verify the data is real before paying the second half.

4. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

Learn from the past as I have and look forward to the future. Good Luck. James
