I am a new immigrant.I have only less knowledge of rules and regulations in Canada. I thought Canada would be the best place to work .But i was ripped off from my employer CARVELLI WORLDWIDE INC O/A RIVER HEIGHTS AUTO OWNER : BILLY CARVELLI . I worked 12 hours a days including Saturdays and got paid only 500$ biweekly. BILLYCARVELLI told me because i am the sub contractor i dont need to pay tax like employee & he will deduct tax by himself so your pay was low and asked me to sign the contract . When i about to read the contract he told whatever i told is written in the contractor and asked me to just sign the contractor under pressure.
My working hours was Monday to Friday : Morning 8:20 am till 7.30 PM sometimes even 8 PM. Saturday from 10 -6pm. If i come 5 minutes late for work around 8.25 am he will ask us stay half an hour extra. This applies to all the workers working there.
He used to cancel the issued cheque for the workers and when workers claim complaints about him to Employments Standards regarding the same. He told the people " Employment standard "cannot do anything against me because i have the subcontractor form signed .All the time he wons the Employment standard saying that the worker stolen the office property so i cancelled their cheque.
It happened many times . There are so many rip off report against this company I believe Employment standard will investigate this issue in serious .This time i want Employment Standard to win and i dont want people saying Employment standard will not help the immigrant .He also got audit from Canada Revenue Agency for the same issue.
Not only he ripoff the workers but he do the same to the aboriginal customers.If you investigate more in detail thinking that no immigrant or aboriginal people should be rip off by these kind of person in Canada for sure you will cancel his License and you will not allow him to have a business any more.He also told me because you are an immigrant you cannot win any where in this Country . He was very rude to me. i have been really stressed and that he verbally abuses his workers by constantly being rude to them and swearing at you . making me to work long hours and threatening to fire you if you didn't work the hours .
I am sure once i create this report there are people who worked in this Company will surely agree and file a report for the same.
