Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We went Casa Marfil in late May, 2013, for a couple of weeks with our two indoor cats.  [We had sold our home in Nuevo Vallarta and were waiting for the paperwork to clear, after cleaning it out].

Locks did not work, yet the owner did not tell us.  We assumed things were all locked - it was a big home with mnay doors.  The safe did not work - the owner told us it did.

Next day the owner turned up with a locksmith, both from Sayulita, her friend who seemed fishy - this is the first we knew of the lock problems, yet we had been told as we arrived there to use the safe.  We had to get up early because they wanted to come an hour earlier than we wanted them to arrive.  He could not fix the doors so we had to fiddle, and trust locks had worked.  We only used a small portion of the house in the end, and tried not to use the locking doors. He said he fixed the safe.  Then it surfaced that something was wrong with the on line payment, so we had to go to the bank, fairly nearby, and get her a deposit, fair enough, but how come they waited all this time?  It was not our mistake but something in her set up on line I think, and we tried two ways to pay.

All just a ruse to get the deposit cash I think, but the lady could not tell the same story twice about the man, her boyfriend, so it seemed laughable.  The coffee maker was filled with mould because the maid had not washed it.  The owner seemed to resent cleaning it - and we would have eventually - but there was no way we would use the machine!

The house was stuffed to the rafters with dusty personal goods that were not all our taste.  There was often dog doo outside...  There was no pool - we knew that - but because of the locking problems we really could not sit outside because we did not want to use the doors..  I got locked out twice..  No wonder her son had up and left..

We were accused of not tipping which was not true, and were accused of leaving kitty fur and litter - we threw out the litter and the box was so fancy the maid brought it back to the house from the roadway!?  We noticed that, as our cab sped away!  We knew other renters were coming hard on our heels so we cleaned all the fur and left the house clean, dusted, and made the beds, did the dishes etc. to help the maid!

We were not picked up for the airport, as we had arranged with the owner, who got the time wrong, so we had to walk quite a long way and get a cab to return to the house, pick our luggage up and go to the airport.  The owner called at the airport to drop off our deposit having not seen the house but having talked with the maid.  The owner accused us of breaking the coffee pot - we never used it, and the maid broke it whilst we were waiting to leave, as I heard it go bang on the counter top?!!  [It had had a hairline crack in it so was waiting to self destruct, but it sure had zip to do with us!  Convenient of the maid to blame us].

Later were accused of scamming her out of the deposit deliberately.  [One other house in Las Moras also kept the deposit, for no reason other than we had pets, and would not return it, in a previous year.  Both places knew we had the pets, and we paid an additional daily rate]..  *We would suggest you skip this rental home, as far better around in the area for less outlay and hassle, and where you will not be accused of things by someone that appears to have some personality issue.
