Cashnet 500 is an on-line payday company that has been calling me continously attempting to collect on a payday loan. They've made over 30 calls to me at work, even after repeated requests by me to cease and desist.

I am going to file a complaint w/ the FTC and the Ohio State AG's office. I have requested from every representative of this company that I have spoken w/ to send me copies of documents proving that I either provided a signed contract or an e-signature to process a loan with them.

They have refused or attempted to get my new banking info by telling me I have to pay $40 by check over the phone to get the paperwork. I told them they were full of it, that I know better. Then they decided to try and threaten me with criminal prosecution.

I let them know that evidently they weren't aware that they weren't dealing w/ some shrinking violet because first of all, the matter of collection is a civil issue and not punishable by criminal law and second of all, making threats of criminal prosecution during a collection call is most certainly against the law.

I did not authorize any loan from this company, do not have a record of receiving one, but I do have a bank statement showing where they began debiting my account for fees. I closed the account. Thus they began the process of calling me at work. They tried and tried to intimidate me. When that failed, they threatened to speak with my supervisor.

When I offered to transfer them to her extension, they balked, saying they would call her on their own - which they never did. They said they would be speaking to her and letting her know about my account and that they would have her garnish my check.

I let them know that I didn't know what country they lived in, but they had to have a court order to garnish my wages. Also, garnishment orders are sent through HR departments and offered to give them that contact info. And, in case they didn't know, slander, libel, and breach of confidentiality were are serious offences and I hoped they were prepared to go to court should they follow through on that threat.

So, now I just basically have to deal w/ them calling me at work. I am sending a certified letter to them to cease and desist the calls. That way, I have a signature on file with a copy of the letter. Then I'm going to sue them. And enjoy it.
