Catherine Walker from Ascom Group Lisa Banks, Christ Hunt, Bianka Wilson Fake job and check scam Texas Internet
Three days ago I posted my resume online with my information; phone, address and email. I received a text first thing the following morning responding to my resume and the job I applied for. This was easy since I had only applied for one job.
The persons name was Catherine Walker. But what was odd is when she texted her name she wrote, Mrs. Walker Catherine. She asked if I was interested in the position I applied for and if I could do a online interview now. I said yes and though it would be through Skype. When she asked if I had a Yahoo or Gmail account I thought that was odd, since my email on my resume is Yahoo.
I received a IM from Chris Hunt, IM name [email protected].
He proceeded to ask me questions about my qualifications, skills and experience. Like an actual interview.
After about 20 mins of this, he said he would like me to job his company, which is Ascom Group. He gave me the website and everything look legit. But one thing that threw me off was that when I looked at the website, there was no current openings.
He mentioned that I need to install some software to my computer to be able to do the work. It was a list of about 15 various programs, from Dreamweaver, to Quickbooks to various versions of Windows. He said to do this the company would send me a check to purchse these items. Another red flag went up. I have worked with various companies and this can be done remotely without me leaving or having me purchase anything.
I let him know that I would not do anything until I received a offer letter and my new hire paperwork. (To make sure this was legit)
The following day I was to report online at 8am to start training. I was on at 8 am and Chris Hunt came on asking me how my family and friends were doing. That was it! I thought, why do you ask someone that on the first day of training?!?
The conversation lasted 10 mins., then he said, "That's all for today."
I knew something was up. He did say in the conversation that I would receive a package with a check for the software along with the new hire paperwork.
I received today the check and a letter. No paperwork. I decided to Google the address, the names, the emails and the phone numbers.
Phone/check scams came up!!
I knew it! I told them I was sending back their scam check and not to contact me!
Please before sending or receiving money from anyone, research, look and investigate! It could save you thousands.
