I got a bid from Central Air, LLC through servicemagic.com referral to repair a water leak on my air conditioning unit. Before I started getting bids, I located the cause of the problem myself, so I was aware of the visible conditions of the unit.

When I discussed payments, the service manager, Kathleen said that the payment is due at the time of service. As I was not able to be home on the day of service, I pre-paid the entire amount due of almost $700.

The repair was supposed to start in the morning, but it was delayed due to a delay in parts arrival. It started around 1PM and they were done by the time I returned home around 4:30PM.

I went to the air conditioner they had just performed the work on. It doesn't meet my expectation of quality and they did a hack job in my opinion. Post repair inspection revealed:

-Screws missing from exterior of the unit

-gaskets from gasketed screws missing

-sheet metal panel with a new kink

-Several gaskets and screws strewn nearby the unit

I immediately called and complained. Got a call from the technician Keith, who performed the work and agreed to come repair it next business day. I then documented everything and sent it over to the service manager, whom did not follow up. I called the next business day and she said the tech will come and fix it.

I had to change my plans so they can correct their hack job. This time, I supervised the entire "repair". The tech didn't have the correct screws, so he ripped new holes in the cabinet near the missing screws. For the gaskets he lost, he simply caulked over with silicone. The caulking will keep the water out and it is in my opinion, a reasonable temporary measure, however they never contacted me regarding permanent, correct repair, using proper OEM parts to replace the parts he lost.

The service manager was professional, polite and kept in touch well, until I paid. She never contacted to follow up. The technician too was polite at the beginning.

On the second trip, he was rude and muttered obscene language in my presence as I supervised the corrective repair. In the end, I'm left with an air conditioning unit that's working, but slapped back together in less than factory quality and an attitude from the tech. They showed no remorse in their attitude or the quality of corrective repair.
