Like everyone else who signed on with CPP, I did the 8-3 conference call training. Then, I called at 8am the next morning to talk with my Team Leader to begin our first sale. I gotta admit though, I only gave these guys one day before I called it quits. I didn't have far to drive. It was in town, so that was easy. I showed up at my first business. It was a bra boutique shop. I got there an hour early considering my TL told me to show up at 9 and they opened at 10. The store manager was a nice lady who was confused when I mentioned that I was with Certified Payment Processing and that they probably should have called letting her know I was coming by. Well, I guess I was mistaken. She had no idea I was coming. Furthermore, she was ticked off that "those guys who keep spam calling" actually sent someone to bug her about buying a product. She told me no, then I got in my car and called my TL back. He told me to get back in there and let him talk to her. I lied and told him I already started driving away.
Next place was a hair salon that didn't exist. I looked everywhere for the address they gave me. Did not exist. I told him this and he gave me a new location. Another hair cutting shop. I showed up, asked for the store owner and they said he had the day off. My TL wanted me to get his contact information from the front desk. I declined and he became angry. I just asked for the next assignment.
The last place I went to before I lost my temper was an African tropical market, where the shop owner did not speak english. Luckily her husband was there to listen to my spiel about the products and what I was there to help them with. They declined saying that they trusted the system they already had. I called my TL back and explained this to him. He asked to talk to the husband. After a short argument, the husband agreed to at least look at the products in my booklet. After looking at the stuff and my explanation, he declined again. I called my TL back and explained the situation. He wanted to talk to him again. I tried to give the phone to the man, after hesitation, he took the phone and tried to tell my TL that they weren't interested. I took the phone back and he told me to try again to convince them and to call him back. Well, I tried again to sell something. Maybe I just couldn't sell, but they got angry and told me to leave. I left, sat in my car for a second, and called my TL back. I told him what happened. He told me to get back in there and try again. That was it.
I know and acknowledge and respect that "no" is no. I told him this and that I was not going to go back in. After telling me that I would fail as a salesman if I let this happen again, he decided to just give me another assignment. I told him that I was done. That it was not going to work out. He then transferred me over to his manager, who was trying to give me this speech about it being my duty as an American and my obligation to help these businesses out so they don't fail as businesses. I told him that I wasn't convinced, but he said to give CPP until the end of the week to work out for me. I told him I would. He was transferring me back to my TL, and I hung up. I was done. My TL wasn't though. He kept calling and leaving voicemails asking if I could call him back and we could work things out. What a waste of time and gas.
