My husband and I had carpetting installed by this company just over a year ago. We should've known better from the start. We ordered a mohawk carpet that was supposed to be able to withstand a moderate amount of traffic (pet and human), with the premium pet underlayment/carpet padding underneath to protect our subfloor from any accidents. The installers, who are subcontracted, installed the carpet wrong and within 2 months, the edges of the carpet began to unravel. The carpet was such poor quality that chunks of the carpet came out when it was vacuumed. After 4 phone calls, Charlie (the owner) sent another subcontracted service person to our home to "stretch" the carpet and fasten it down correctly. The serviceman told us that because the carpet had been cut crooked, that he would be unable to stretch the carpet enough to hide the damage. The "repair" was done as best as the serviceman could do. Within 3 more months, the carpet was showing extreme signs of wear and tear. This carpet was supposed to have been stainmaster treated, and have a 10-year warranty that would replace or repair any damage done. After repeated attempts to contact the store, we were informed that we had actually received a Shaw carpet similar to the mohawk carpet because the other "must've been discontinued." This carpet was completely ruined, and so deteriorated, that it we ended up stripping every inch of this product out of the lower level of our home and replaced it with a MUCH higher quality product. We were finally able to get in touch with someone at the store in order to file a formal complaint. We were told that we would receive a call back the next day, and that we would need to contact the manufacturer directly if we wished to file a claim, which was incorrect. Six days, and four phone calls later, we still had no return call from the store. We finally made contact on our seventh call, and were givien Charlie's personal phone number. The owner tracked down our file, who was with a person named "Pat," and informed us that a claim had been filed and that Shaw would likely want to see the carpet. I explained that both Charlie and the Shaw people are more than welcome to come view the product, which is still in a roll in my garage (both the padding and the carpet). Charlie informed us that we were likely "out of luck" since we removed this terribly unhygienic product from our home without having made what we are sure would've been over a dozen phone calls to have anything done. Truthfully, we are just glad to have this terrible stuff out of our home! We will NEVER refer this company to anyone for any kind of flooring. They have no concern for the customer receiving a quality product or quality service. STAY AWAY!
