The computer age is wonderful; but it does have its negative aspects.
Many of us grew up instilled with a work ethic and, as adults; attempt to put our training into practice. We run legitimate businesses and strive to provide quality product and professional services. In turn, we develop a good reputation and a satisfied customer base, and new clients are often referred by the very same people with whom we have had a mutually positive and productive relationship.
In the computer age, it seems that anybody is essentially free to post with impunity anything they wish to state about another person or a business, regardless of the truth or falsity of the statement's content, and websites such as this one often allow a person totally unknown to say whatever he or she may choose to say without investigating the truth of a report or making any effort to independently seek the "other side of the story!"
In this instance, we were contracted by a customer to install wood laminate flooring in her condominium residence. Until the day that our work began, we were simply unaware as to just how bad her existing carpeting had deteriorated below the surface. In the course of its removal, we first became aware of extensive dirt, dust and other debris; from all indications, the old carpet had not been duly & properly cleaned for a lengthy period of time, if ever. Still, we lifted and removed the old carpet and the filthy padding which admittedly scattered dust and dirt in the area of the apartment. As this is part of the free service we offer to our customers before we start installation of the new laminate floor as agreed upon.
We were working on her condo patio while we were installing the new laminate floor; we encountered a sudden gust of wind as it was a windy day and saw dust not concrete dust blew into the condo. Our crew thoroughly cleaned the resulting debris after the job was completed.
Then following the completion of the entire installation of the wood laminate floor selected by the customer, our crew was presented with complaints about the dirt and dust created by a combination of the homeowner's dubious housekeeping skills and the sudden weather-related experience mentioned above.
While we did not believe that the customer was entitled to a reduction of the purchase price, because this is a construction project and there is bound to be some saw dust, we nevertheless allowed her to take a credit in an amount that was amicably agreed upon which was $150.00, and she appreciatively agreed to pay and did pay the lowered balance due on her account. She also signed our customer satisfaction report saying that everything was fine and she was happy with the work performed.
Then several weeks later, we received a phone call from the homeowner who now had an additional complaint, contending for the very first time that our personnel had allegedly done something, while reconnecting appliances, to cause a plumbing leak which had produced damage to the ceiling of the apartment below.
Our installer promptly went to the scene; inspected the premises in both units and found no evidence of water, moisture or dampness nor of any plumbing-related problem. It was then stated that a plumber had
already made a repair. Once again without evidence of improper action on our part, we offered, as a gesture of good will, to pay the plumber's bill, and the customer advised that she would send it to us. She never did so, however.
Soon thereafter, this negative review appeared on this site.
There is an expression in vogue which provides that "no good deed goes unpunished". This case seems to present an example of such principle.
Here, we did the job we were hired to do, performing in a good and workmanlike manner. Our customer indicated that she was happy and paid us the agreed upon balance less an amount we volunteered to deduct from her balance in an effort to make her happy in order to compensate her for the problems associated with the dust-related experience that had occurred without any fault on our part.
Thereafter, we even offered to be of assistance in attempting to rectify a problem reported to us weeks after the completion of the job wherein there was no visible evidence of any actual problem; however, the customer did not follow through as she had promised to do.
Still, the customer was not satisfied...
Some people are like that, and we have all encountered them.
Fortunately, most people still recognize and appreciate professionalism, courtesy and hard work.
We hope you will give us a call so that we can show you our fine product and allow our excellent staff to assist you.
It is not just a coincidence that we have faithfully served the state of Florida for ten years in providing high quality flooring product and friendly, professional service.
Thank you.
