Every year charter raises my rate by around $10.  So every year I have to call in and reduce my services to bring my rate back to where it was.

Last year I was told that I could upgrade to HD and it would reduce my rate by around $10.  If I had been told that my rate reduction was for one year, I would have told them to cram it, and I specifically asked both the CS and the installer about this.  I did not believe that an upgrade would lower my bill, so I asked the question every #*$&# way I could think of.

Imagine my surprise when my bill went from 110. to 115. to 132. to 139.

The unapologetic CS tells me that was because I was on a promotion, which was temporary, and the promotion has expired.  She was unable to explain how my "promotion" expired in discrete steps over a period of months.  She just kept saying "all promotions are temporary",   whereas I was NEVER TOLD I WAS ON SUCH A PLAN.   In fact I distinctly remember discussing this exact issue with CS when I signed up in the first  place.  I would never agree to a temporary ANYTHING.  EVER.

This is a fraudulent practice pure and simple. If anyone is pursuing a class-action suit I would like to know about it.  Burying something in fine print is one thing, but deliberate evasion of pointed questions, and outright lying to me is quit another.

I terminated all TV services with them, and now only have internet. When I made this change, she asked me if I wanted to keep the "line maintainence".   Well... I have had it removed 3 times already.  How many times or how often do I have to have it removed?

3 times out of 5 when I have had my service level changed to a lower level, I have found myself at a much higher and more expensive level.  And no you don't get a refund, they just keep the money.   That is fraud and theft, pure and simple.  If YOU steal something, you go to jail.  If THEY steal something, uhm, yeah, you just have to give them money, unless you are ready to spend a million on a lawsuit in order to recover a few hundred in fraudulent charges.

If you have any option besides Charter, take it.
