OVER THE PAST YEARS WITH CHASE BANK I HAVE NOTICED THAT THEYRE AUTOMATED SYSTEM IS SET UP TO PROFIT THEYRE BANK BY LYING ABOUT BALANCES AND THEN CONVIENTLY PLACING PAST CARD PURCHASES ON ONE DAY AFTER THEY ARE AWARE THAT THEY LIED ENOUGH FOR YOU TO GO OVER ON YOUR ACCOUNT THEY THEN PLACE ALL OF THE PAST PURCHASES ON THE SAME DAY EVEN IF THEY OCCURRED DAYS UPON DAYS AGO THEY LIE AND SAY THAT THE AMOUNT DIDNT COME OUT OF YOUR AVAILABLE BALANCE OVER THE PHONE ...WHEN IT SAYS IT ACTUALLY DID AT TIME OF PURCHASE ..SO IN ACTUALLITY ITS LIKE YOUR BEING FACED WITH THESE PURCHASES TWICE...ONCE AS A DEDUCTION OVER THE PHONE TO YOUR AVAILABLE BALANCE ...AND THEN AGAIN ... WHEN THAT DEDUCTION MYSTERIOUSLY DISSAPEARS AND YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOW IN THE RED WITH ALL THE PAST DEDUCTIONS YOU KNOW WAS REFLECTED OVER THE PHONE..UP TO THAT POINT......THIS IS REDICULOUS AND NEEDS TO BE DELT WITH......ASAP THEY ARE MAKING BILLIONS!!!!!

that makes little to no sense. IF you have the money IN your account.....it shouldnt matter whether it's pending or posted.....debit or credit. Once you spend the money either way you should mark it as GONE.....toast.....no more.....never to be seen OR used again. Living on the float as others call it is not possible anymore. It shouldnt matter how or when the charge hits the account because if the money is there it isnt likely to be a problem. If it isnt......you're screwed and shouldnt be spending what you dont have....or trying to beat a deposit to the bank.

Avoiding Overdraft Charges with Chase Checking

Hi, I have been banking w/Chase for a number of years and used to have the same problems you mention. It is true that they make a lot of money by having your transactions (ran as credit) post later, because not only do they get to charge a merchant fee to the store you made the purchase at, they get to borrow your money interest-free during the float period (having that said, I would advise NOT using their automatic billpay service). Additionally, the order that the charges are posted to your account is NOT necessarily reflective of the order you made them; if you make 3 small purchases and 1 large purchase, then they will always pay the largest charge FIRST, and then the other 3 small charges will individually rack up overdraft fees. Even if the 3 small charges together would not have put you into overdraft alone, and you made them first. SO, what you will need to do is start asking all the stores you make purchases at to run your transactions as debits (you will have to enter your pin each time otherwise it is not being run as debit); your purchases will immediately be deducted from your available bank balance, they won't get to hold your money interest-free for a week, and the store will get to save on operating costs which could translate into savings for shoppers. But there will be times you probably need to use credit, maybe at some gas station pumps, so if you keep all your receipts and balance your checkbook each night, it should be smooth sailing from now on!

in your register? This is the most accurate balance available. The bank can only show you the available balance after considering the items on hold. The holds will expire after 3 business days (usually) if the store doesn't request the money. The item will post when the store requests the money. So if you keep an accurate register and keep your balance in the positive, then no fees accessed. AND HIT YOUR CAP LOCK KEY, IT'S RUDE TO TYPE IN ALL CAPITALS.
