Check Processing Bureau ripoff claiming I owe money for nsf of a checking account New York New York
I received a letter from the check processing bureau stating I owed $161.99 due to a bad check written to pizza hut. I called them to find out more information, and according to them all they could tell me was the check number was 127. I told her I have never written a check for that amount to pizza hut.
She then told me she could not give me any more information and if I did not agree with the claim not to pay it but it would be reported to the credit bureau, and posted on my credit report.

If you wrote a check written to Pizza Hut for that amount, and it didn't get funded by your bank, your bank would have a record of having returned the check. If your bank doesn't know anything -- and I suspect they won't -- then these people are just trying to scare you into paying them money to make them go away. And don't talk to them on the phone. Everything said between you and them needs to be in writing.
