Port Huron,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I'm a former employee of two different Choice Hotels. I worked the front desk at both hotels. I would suggest going to www.choicehotels.com and clicking on the "Contact Us" link. I believe someone else may have already posted that link. There is also a 1-800 number specifically for complaints, that maybe you can find, but it's been well over a year since I worked at the last one that I don't remember the number. The hotel managers/owners only have a certain amount of time to respond to these complaints or they are fined by Choice Hotels. Also, if I remember correctly most cancellation policies state that if the reservation is not cancelled by 4pm, 6pm at the very latest, you will be charged full price for the room as well as any applicable sales taxes and probably a safe warranty and tax on that as well. Good luck!

Initially, my first response would be that you're correct. However, some information is left out of your report. For example, when was the reservation made and when was it cancelled and what day was it for? Right now, there are 2 hotels under the Choice umbrella that have availability in Jackson, MS, so I would say that your room could go to use. The problem I have, is that unless your room was reserved for August 29-31... You should have cancelled well ahead of time. Although.. No doubt the room could and did go to use. Most Choice hotels are franchisee owned. Perhaps going to the corporate level would help. www.choicehotels.com. Now, if this is a situation where your plans changed, and you're using the hurricane as an excuse, well, then I have no pity for you at all.

I've just heard from them and they refuse to refund the money to my credit card. It absolutely floors me that they have zero compassion for the disaster Katrina was and the damage it caused to so many. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of organizations who are giving and bending the rules for hurricane victims but not this sleezy organization. I suppose to them, having $60 of my money is worth more than helping when the time demands. You can BET I won't ever step foot into one of their locations and will spread the word so others don't do the same!
