Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

First, let me just say that my experience with the Chrysler dealership was horrible.  That's a much longer and sadder story and I can explain in depth separately but this complaint is about another specific issue.  I bought an used 2011 Town & Country Limited from Joe Cecconi's Chrysler Complex on 2015-06-25 with just over 64000 miles on it.  As I said earlier, I had issues with it at the time of purchase that I would love to explain in further detail.  But my current issue is that the AC stopped blowing cold air, within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle.  I tried having the refrigerant recharged, with no luck.  My mechanic diagnosed it as the rear evaporator leaking.  It will be $1000 plus tax to repair!  I called 4 Chrysler dealerships and they all quoted between $600 and $1000, with the $600 one not being trustworthy.  I called Cecconi's to see if they would cover anything and they quoted $650 and said none of this is covered under my 60 day "lemon law" warranty.

I have done some research online and see NUMEROUS cases (http://repairpal.com/anyone-else-have-to-replace-rear-evaporator-500#) of this with model year 2002-2013 Chrysler/Dodge vans.  All exhibiting the same problem if the vehicles are owned in the rust belt.  This is not something the customer should have to pay for out of pocket when it's a known problem with the part.  It is hard to tell if the replacement part is more corrosion resistant or if this is something I'll have to deal with again in a few years if I choose to keep this vehicle.

I've only had this vehicle for two months and this is the second time in the shop, with a repair bill in the hundreds or more.  I am not pleased with this decision and should have bought a Toyota.  At four years old and 67000 miles, this vehicle shouldn't have major issues like this yet, that is not high mileage at all.  The fact that it's a known issue but Chrysler chooses not to do anything at all because it provides a guaranteed revenue stream for their dealerships is despicable.  I will not buy a Chrysler again nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Dear Tyg, the used car dealer / Chrysler shill,

Please, show me on the doll where the "evil consumer" hurt you.

This problem cropped up well within the NYS 60 day "Lemon Law" window and was diagnosed by a shop within that time, I have the phone records, thanks for playing.  As for doing the adult thing, pot meet kettle.

Excuse the F*&* out of me for not wanting to spend $40k on a new T&C and instead opting for a more reasonably priced used vehicle.  This isn't my first used car, only my first (and last) used Chrysler.  Never had a $1000 failure in two months after buying a Toyota...

I'm not asking them to warranty everything, only a known-to-fail-for-sure part with multiple reports of failure.  They didn't repair it under warranty for someone else who had the same problem in a 2013 van.  Think about that for a minute, in a 2 year old van they didn't repair it under the original 3yr/36k warranty.  I also test drove a 2012, with roughly 40k miles.  It had the same problem.  Hmmm, I'm sure that was the previous owner's fault as well.

No kidding they won't do what I want or wish.  Neither will you unless you're on your way to take a long walk off a short pier.

Thanks for the rolling down the window advice, I hadn't thought of that, please tell that to the toddlers in the back [/s].  Here's some advice for you since you're dishing it out so freely, people are different, what works for you may not work for others depending on their circumstances.  When I call 5 repair shops to get a quote and tell them my AC doesn't work, the first thing out of their mouth shouldn't be "oh yeah, that's a common problem with that model, it's probably the rear evaporator."

For the record, I'm not posting this just to get my own issue fixed, there's multiple consumers out there who reported this problem and got shafted, and we all deserve something other than Chrysler passing the buck.

You say it's an issue with the vehicle being used in a specific environment.  Yup, that environment is called the Northern Hemisphere!  If Chrysler can't build more corrosion resistant equipment knowing a large percentage of their consumers will be in that "specific environment" then they should pick up the cost of the repair when the part fails (because it's not an "if," it will fail).

Actually buddy, thanks to things like CarFax, I do know where the vehicle spent a great deal of it's short four year life.  And it was mainly in upstate NY according to the service records.  Thanks, for playing.

How dare someone buy a used vehicle and save more than 50% of the cost of the vehicle.  That's just crazy, what sane individual would do such a thing!

Since you say you live near Death Valley, on the one hand, I want to call bulls(#t for running without AC.  On the other hand, by your overuse of CAPITALS and your general demeanor of defending Chrysler as if I said something bad about your child, it's pretty clear that your lack of AC has fried your brain.  There's no reason to be so defensive when this problem isn't isolated to just my vehicle.  For that matter, there really doesn't seem to be a reason for you to jump in here if you haven't had a similar problem and don't represent Chrysler.  In fact, no Internet for you, come back two weeks.

YOU purchased a USED vehicle. There is NO WARRANTY!!! Meaning YOU can CLAIM a "Lemon Law" warranty all you like, its past the time in which you COULD claim it. So instead of doing the ADULT thing and handle YOUR business, YOU seek to use internet blackmail to try and FORCE THEM into fixing YOUR PROBLEM for FREE!!! So TRANSPARENT!!!!It WONT WORK!!!!!! THEY will ONLY do what they have to do LEGALLY!!! NOT what YOU want or wish!!! Roll down the windows and enjoy that FRESH AIR. Summer will be over in under a month so YOU wont have to sweat for very long. Its NOT thier responsibility to repair YOUR USED VEHICLE unless YOU have purchased an extended warranty through them. NOT A RIPOFF to the consumer. Its the other way around. THIS consumer is trying to SCAM them into fixing her problem for free. Knowing full well that they dont have a leg to stand on so they twist the truth to fit THIER version of the situation and is attempting social blackmail. A known issue is NOT a recall and the parent company is under ZERO obligation to fix a problem that THEY DID NOT CREATE!!!! Its an issue with the vehicles being used in a SPECIFIC enviroment. NOT every single one of those vehicles. So because YOU purchased it THERE YOU have ASSUMED that the vehicle has spent its life around YOU. The reality is that ANY part will eventually fail at some point. And YOU do NOT have a 100% history of WHERE that vehicle has been used. When YOU assume YOU do so at your own risk!!! What YOU are dealing with is the consequences of purchasing a USED VEHICLE!!!! There will ALWAYS be repairs that will be needed. Sometimes its not a lot, sometimes its a whole lot. But this is what YOU GET FOR CHOSING TO PURCHASED USED!!! YOUR cheapness, YOUR budget, YOUR problem. AC is a LUXURY!!! I know for a FACT that you can live just fine without AC. I live near Death Valley with NO AC!! So it CAN be done.
