Chuck Vaughn The Balloon Man Theft of money for services paid for but not rendered Jacksonville, Florida
It is almost good to know that I am in good company as I read the many complaints against Chuck Vaughn, "The Balloon Man." Quite some time ago I sent him $450 for a balloon ride for 2 to acknowledge a celebration of some sort. He deferred the proposed date of service several times before finally refusing to offer the services at all after I'd complained to him about his delays. He also refused a refund of my $450. I took him to Small Claims Court, and was flabbergasted to find out (the next day) that I lost the case and was unable to receive any money back at all. The case was heard by Judge Sharon H Tanner, who I believe works for Judge Moran.
There has not been a day that's gone by since then when a spark of ire has ignited in me. I was advised not to appeal, since at that time, the appeal charge would have been about $250. I have had a very difficult time "sucking it in" since then. (This was a couple of years ago; August 2008.) The statute of limitations I'm sure is up by now, but since I'm on Social Security - and since I can't rely on the Judge Tanners of the world to rule with justice - my only recourse is to lobby against this crooked vendor. Had I looked Vaughn up in the BBB website at that time, I would have seen his "F" rating. By briefing though the other more recent reports against him, it appears that we just might collectively qualify for a class action suit, and I would be very willing to pursue that avenue if it is viable.
Besides filing in small claims,I have complained to the Attorney General, Consumer Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau, with no response from any of them. If he hasn't been so to date, this man needs to be stopped from doing business in Florida. (Heck, I don't even think he HAS a hot air balloon!)

This judge has made my life miserable for 2 years. All the proof she needs to clear my case (which has turned into cases) is public record and she has chosen to dismiss all of this information that I have put right in front of her face. It has cost me hundreds of dollars and 2 trips to jail. Unfortunately she is running for re election unopposed this year. Duval county is now subjected to a horrible judge for the next 6 years.
When looking her up, I found that I am not the only one she has done this to, she ruined another mans life because of her basic opinion that everyone is either guilty or lying and doesn't even bother to look at the evidence right in front of her. She even admits in an article that she and her staff laugh in open court at people because of some of the things she hears. I was one of those people. Apparently she thought it was funny I had been arrested in front of my 7 year old and that he is now terrified of police officers. Shame on you DIShonorable sharon tanner.
