Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Your TV commercials are very funny, clever and entertaining. However, the humor, cleverness and entertainment end the minute a person signs up for a free credit report.

Your company is very cunning in the way you lured me as a customer. I signed up for a free credit report and subsequently requested, within the 30 day period, a cancellation to prevent any further cost to me. I was told by the telemarketing customer service person at freecreditreport.com it had been done and cancelled. I only found out 24 hours ago that I had been billed for your CIC Triple Advantage service since February 2007 $12.95 each month. (A total of 16 months x $12.95 = $207.20) I suppose a reasonable price if I had wanted the service; used the service, or perhaps most importantly knew that I had the service.

I have, only now, seen many, many other people on the internet with very similar experiences complain of CIC's misleading practices.

Just today. . .

When I called CIC this morning I spoke with a girl named Pam who, when asked if she would cancel my subscription, said she could not help me without my Discover credit card used to open my original FreeCreditReport account. I gave her my current Discover Card number but she said that number was different than the one I had originally used. Therefore, her hands were tied and until I was able to produce that original Discover Card number there was nothing she could do. She assured me there was no way to help me without that one credit card number. I asked if she could use some other unique identifying information regarding my personhood to respond to my request and she adamantly insisted she could not. I was suspicious, but nevertheless, I called Discover Card to retrieve the old card number.

My current Discover Credit Card number was different from the one I originally used to order my FREE CREDIT REPORT. But now, I no longer had the number since being issued a new Discover Card number. I had cut up my old card and had replaced it with my new Discover card. After considerable hassle and delay calling Discover Card's fraud unit, I called CIC back. This time I spoke with Jean. But this time she asked not for my Credit Card number, but my Social Security number. She verified who I was by asking some very specific questions such as my mother's maiden name, a childhood friend etc. I assume these options were also available to Pam.

Again I asked Jean to have my subscription cancelled. But as it turns out she cleverly avoided helping me by further delaying my request by informing me how I could take advantage of a free month of credit reporting service (a service I have never used and now would probably NEVER USE!!!). Finally after repeatedly asking for her supervisor and respectfully asking for a refund she disclosed that canceling had always been my option but that only when requested in writing. She gave me this email address: [email protected].

I have since notified Discover Card to block any further billings from CIC and CIC will not be able to bill my account further.

Please cancel my "subscription" I am requesting for a complete refund, and for every penny charged to me since February 2007. As you can see I did not use your services, not even one time since I thought the service had been cancelled and was under the impression I no longer was a subscriber.

Please consider the misleading manner in which you were able to bill me. This is a very difficult time for me financially and $200 is a lot of money.

Whoever at CIC reads this valid complaint from this victimized citizen; I pity your sorry soul for knowing you are working for a company who preys on innocent people.

My God grant you the grace to do what you would want done for you if the tables were turned.
