Cinergy Health provides a 10-day grace period once a policy has been issued. On the 10th day I spoke with a costumer services agent who said that I could either mail in my cancellation notice with it postmarked 3/20/09 or I could FAX it in. I chose to FAX it in. On 3/13/09 I called to confirm that they had received my FAX and that everything was in order. I was told by Kim, the agent on the call, that I had not signed the FAX. She stepped away to check what needed to be done. When she came back she stated that they would accept the FAX as-is. I specifically asked whether they would still like a signed copy but she said it was not necessary. She also stated that I would be receiving a refund back into my debit account for the $388.00 within 2-3 business days.

Today, 3/30/09, I called to check why the refund had not been posted to my account and was told a completely different story. First I had not cancelled in time to receive a refund because they show the cancellation as of 3/11/09 and that the person I spoke to on 3/13/09 would never have told me I should expect a refund because it was against company policy. I explained that I was specifically told that I would receive a refund and that it would be credited to my debit account. I was told that this was not possible and that she was only doing research and was not telling me I was clearly due the refund. Obviously they are telling me I'm a liar or an idiot by stating that I misunderstood the person I spoke with. If I hadn't specifically asked and confirmed what I understood to be confirmation that the refund would be in my account within a few days I might have allowed for this confusion, but this is clearly not the case. Please be aware that Cinergy Health will tell you one thing and do another when it comes coverage and refunds. They are very good a changing their story to suit their needs.

People! Look, let's face it...real insurance costs money!!!! Economic times are tough today. Watch out for companies promising health insurance which is only good til you go and use it. These people are suppose to help us.......Does anyone see that here with these type companies? Check with your primary care doctor to see if they would take this so called Insurance before you buy. A lot of these type companies use tactics which are not only misleading, but simply LIES! Their employment of EX-CONS, and managers in recovery should be a good indication of the type of people you are dealing with. (Call and ask for tom) If you need insurance.....BUY REAL HEALTH insurance. It is expensive but VERY real and worth every penny. When you need health insurance at the most critical time in your life....Is this the type of company you want to reach for? Do your homework before buying anything over the phone..........especially something you life may truley depend on!!!!!!!!!!!

We at Cinergy Heath do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that you have experienced in obtaining your refund Gary. While technically you did not cancel within the required 10 day period to receive your refund, our investigation has revealed that you were in fact told that you would be receiving a refund. We apologize for the delay in completing our investigation and in the confusion of the situation with any conversations you had with our member care. In the interest of business goodwill, we have decided to issue you a full refund, which has been processed back to your account used for payment. We sincerely hope that this rectifies any ongoing complaints that you have. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this, then please call us at (800) 847-1148 and ask to speak with the Chief Compliance Officer (x105), or email us at [email protected].
