You stated that you received a pre-approval letter from Cingular for two phones. Did you know that pre-approved means just what it says, PRE-APPROVED! If you were to receive a credit card offer in the mail that said pre-approved, it doesn't mean that you are getting a credit card without your credit report being checked! It means that you met certain criteria which upon you applying, would be confirmed by the information contained in your credit report! If you are trying to obtain financing for a home, then I'm pretty sure you're aware that if you have a "pre-approval" from a mortgage company doesn't mean you actually have a loan!
