My guess is that you didn't read everything thoroughly. All of the letters, words, and paragraphs that come along with the promotion are meant to be read. I can assure you that Circuit City gave all the details on how to receive you free accessories. A lot of people see the word FREE and instantly want to buy without even reading the details of the purchase. No company worth it's salt will give anything away for free, that's money out of their own pocket. First rule of economics, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

circuit city stock has dropped because customers have lost common sense and the ability to read. they have also lost stock price because customers cant seem to think for themselves anymore and follow a herd mentality..... lets all go to best buy because it has best in the name! mooooooooo

Let me just add a few facts to my story. My confirmation e-mail for my order was sent to me 3 days after my order was placed. When I called customer service I spent about 3 hours on the phone with no real answer as to why I did not get my 3 free add on items. I finally got the phone number for corporate headquarters. They told me that I should have ordered these items into my cart and I would have received a mail in rebate for the items. They also told me that the promotion was over and it is too late to get the items One ,that was not clear on the web site when I placed the order. Two, they told me that my only recourse at this point is to return everything. I will return everything on Thursday. Three I am still willing to buy the product and submit the rebate coupons. They state the promotion is over and it is too late. This is a lousy way to treat customers. Assuming the mistake is mine, I am still spending over $2,000 on this order. They should sell me what I wanted at the price I wanted and was quoted on the internet. The person at customer service told me they received a lot of complaints exactly like mine. They seem to be going out of their way to alienate customers. No wonder their stock price has dropped 3 fold in the last year. Circuit City really needs a complete change in mindset if they wish to survive as a company. I've seen this happen to companies all too often. They will not survive unless they make fundamental changes. David

If you know the proper procedures to follow to make sure the validation company doesn't try to say that "we never received your submission." I have received every single one of approximately 30-40 rebates in the past 3 years I have submitted. I was notified that some of the rebates were not received but I gave them the number that I mailed them certified. As well as furnished them with the copies of all rebate paperwork that I kept in case they tried to pull those stunts that they are known for. Yes, you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to receive what is rightfully yours, but have you heard of the saying "something for nothing."

I read the fine print in the circular ads and if its rebate stuff, its not worth the time forking out all that money because half the time you don't get your money back anyway to get the item free so therefor REBATES ARE RIP OFF'S! So is Circuit City, Best Buy and anyone else offering such bait and switch tatics.

First of all, they don't just appear when you get a laptop. You've got to actually buy the printer, wireless router, security, etc. There are rebates on all of those items that you must mail in. However, you don't mail them to Circuit City, you mail them to the manufacturer. The manufacturer then sends your money back to you. Circuit City still makes a profit on said items, and you still get them for free. The manufacturer is the one losing out on profit. So why would Circuit City take them off the ticket? This is their job...selling the product to you. Why would they not want to sell something to you? This is how they make money. And why doesn't Circuit City automatically add these items to your ticket? Because you've got to pay for them before hand, in full. You pay the retail price, and then get that amount back in the mail 6-8 weeks later. Not everybody can afford an extra $200 at the time of purchase. So basically, Circuit City wishes you had added said items, because then they would have made a profit off of them. Circuit City probably lost money on the laptop on Black Friday anyways, hence why they have the printer, router, etc to make up for the difference.

When you order from CC you get an email copy of your receipt immediately. You can also print a copy of the order confirmation directly from your browser. As a matter of fact, before closing the confirmation browser window, you should open another tab and check your email for the confirmation email and make sure that they both match so that you know right away that everything is as it should be. As with all free products, you have to order them with the qualifying product, pay the full retail price on all the products, then they become free after the rebates have become validated. Did you add the printer, router and security software into your cart with your laptop? Probably not, which is why CC says "it was not on my order." If you did, your total order would amount to about $200 above the price of the laptop. I'm not sure which laptop you purchased, so there may have been a rebate with the laptop as well. What I meant by price of the laptop is the price before rebate, if there was one. The reason you say CC removed the free items is because you may have assumed that by purchasing the laptop you would automatically receive the free items, which is not the case. Do you have the Thanksgiving ad? If so look at page 10 and read the details for the free products. These also apply to online purchases the day before. You may not have paid attention to the terms and conditions other the word FREE.
