I am currently an employee of Circuit City in the televisions department. Yes the city advantage is alot but like it was stated before it is pretty comparible to others stores that sell similiar products. In some situations the city advantage really is a good program. I personally would never purchase it on a analog crt television. Generaly there is not a whole lot that can go wrong and if it does they are pretty cheap to fix. However, on lcd projections and dlps, I would never purchace one without it. Here is my reasoning. Lets say you buy a 50 Sony lcd projection tv, the price of the lamp bulb direct from sony is 439 dollars, this typically has to be replaced in a three year period depending on your watching habits. To have it installed is around 600 hundred dollars. Now, the city advantage is 499 for four years. Not only does it cover the bulb, it covers all the bulb changes needed in htat four year period and that includes installing them. Plus, your tv is completly covered for parts that go even on picture quality issues. you are going to have to spend more than that on one bulb change no matter what. Do your homework on the product that you are buying, then see what benefits you get with extended warrenties. You will find on alot of technologies it will benefit you to have them in place. Otherwise just simply don't buy it. But to knock every warrenty based on one or two products is really lack of research. I think both sides of the coin have merit people.

I wanted to bring to your attention that most of the complaints on this site are about rebates. 90% of the rebate complaints should not have been made against the Circuit City store because they were manufacturers rebates not the stores. Here you go again proving how big of a DUMBASS you are Jose. Read before you speak or face the foot you stick in your mouth everytime you open your mouth to speak. I wish you would try harder to prove you have an intellegience. I have said things to prove both points I keep making. 1. YOU ARE A DUMBASS!!!! 2. All warranties are the same. You have done nothing but b***h. Just shut up and end this. You lose. Oh. Eb Games also says a protection plan on DVDs and games. SO what is your point. OH YEAH!!! You have none.

nice rebutals guys you prove to me that Corporate America is truly ran by monkeys, or else human's with the equivalent intelligence. Seriously about the Ipods, sure the $65 warranty is for 2 years, fine what ever, so Circuit City is a little more expensive then one competitor. Blah Blah Blah I could easily have gone to other "complaints" and copied and pasted those responses. Look at the number of complaints your company has, for a company who's NUMBER ONE GOLDEN RULE is to TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. WOW, with Warranties alone I could probably list hundreds of pros and thousands of cons. I never said warranties are bad, I just said dont buy City Advantage, City Advantage is not insurance on a product it does not do what they tell you it will and cover "everything". I have done shops on Circuit City versus 4 of their competitors, Brands Mart, Comp USA, Best Buy, Radio Shack.... I actually worked at Circuit City and know what its all about. Its funny because I try to call stores and when they finally answer I get bounced around until I am disconnected this is a store I used to work for. Furthermore I visit stores and what the hell is City Advantage on a DVD, nice thinking lets make even more money on useless warranties. Oh I am sorry mister customer that scratch is too big we cant fix it. All I have to say is good luck Circuit City, I still shop there all the time because I am familiar with the lay outs, but as a former Circuit City employee I WOULD NEVER BUY CITY ADVANTAGE... BIG waste of MONEY

First, I apologize for my remarks, I was upset that someone who knew nothing about what he was talking about was trying to say that the warranties sold by major retailers were different and typed without thinking. Second, THANK YOU, Rob for understanding the message I was trying to get across and understand what was going on. I get really pissed when someone thinks that because they worked somewhere they know the world. Know I admit I acted that way but belive me, I know not as much as I would like. I do not know where all the money in the profits go but I know this. The money is well spent to improve and run the warranty no matter the company. I understand that every warranty although fundamentally the same has differences and if Jose prefers one over the other than fine, let him be the dumbass how spends his money thinking he is getting something special.

Jose, Please research the numbers and costs of City Advantage vs Staples or Best Buy or Comp Usa. There is not one City Advantage plan over 400 dollars on a computer for four years, as for your Ipod complaint, its a 3 year not a one year warranty. In addition, you verbally attacked first so you are being hypocritical. Yes Circuit City makes money on warranties, so does best buy, all of the warranties are exactly the same. There is a 24/7 tech support number that you call if you have issues. They deal with the warranties not the physical stores. The CSA's were doing their job correctly. Also, when you make a claim on your city advantage they give you a prorated portion back of your warranty coverage and replace your product, then you must buy cityadvantage again because it is a new item. But I guess since you floridians can't even vote correctly, how could you be expected to understand this?

By the choice of your phraseology and proper ettiquete Circuit City is higher America's best, its one thing to try to correct someone because their business has such bad management, its another to flat out disrespect them in a verbal matter the likes that you did, I am going to do you a favor though, you have a wonder Circuit City day, after all that reply was "Just What I needed"

I suposse you have never ran or administrated a warranty. I have, I have admin Staples, Circuit City, Radio Shack, sold them at Best Buy, and sold them at staples. You are a dumbasss. All of the warrantied have the exact wording within a few minor details. Don't belive read them. The profit for the Staples plan accoding to store 60%, Best Buy 50%, radioshack you guessed it 60%. They re the d**n same and you need something better to b***h about than the d**k stuck in your a*s.

All I am saying is that with the Ipod I get that s**t at Radioshack half the price and I get double the service, and with pc's why would I pay 500 for a warranty on a 1500 laptop when I go to a place like Radio Shack and get the same warranty with better service for $300 $200 cheaper Flat Out Circuit City Warranties are a rip off! I have seen CSAs flat out tell customers no we cant help you, you have to call this number, wtf kind of service is that, at other places you drop off your product come back in a week and boom its done, or in a lot of cases other places will flat out replace the product, Circuit City has done that very seldeemly. Bottomline like I said you guys are making way too much money and if you are going to tell me it gets put into the service centers and repairs question one why is the service still pretty lousy (I am not the only complaint here if you need evidence) question two wtf are you spending the money on? Coffee breaks? Others can do it faster better and cheaper hints dont buy City Advantage!

You want to know where that "profit" goes. It pays my paycheck, if you were not such a dumbass you might have looked inot your claim. The "profit as you call it" goes to cover the repiars of all systems and products uner the cityadvantage warranty that I work for. I administrate the Comuter SUpport Plan and yes it does make money but not a 60% margin. That profit you were talking about goes to the warranty company to pay for them to administrate the warranty. Mind you not all of it goes our way but a portion of it does. And I will give you one good reason to buy the plan. IT WORKS!!!! I set up about 10 to 15 people a day across the US for repairs to theere computer or computer related products. NOW SHUT YOU d**n MOUTH until you know what you are talking about.
