I expected to happen too. When they first deregulated the power companies in TX, I knew this would happen. Its the same exact problem California had when they deregulated there. First several new "providers" starting offering lower rates. Second everyone was hit with high rate increases. Most recent was 40% Those new providers are not doing well because they have to lease infrastructure (Power Lines) from the main power company (TXU) to get the power to their customers. Third: Soon we'll be suffering the rolling blackouts and brownouts that plagued CA for a few years. I never left TXU - knowing these new companies would eventually fail.
