They change the sign on the street before they change the price at the pump. Usually it means they're gonna raise the price. Last time the price on the sign was 5 cents higher then the price at the pump. By the way, how much gas did you pump in your vehicle?

It is illegal if the PUMP says the price is $2.099/gallon, yet charges you more. It is not illegal for the sign to state one price, and the pump to read another. As long as the pump price is the same as you are charged, there has been no crime committed. It may be unethical, but it is not illegal. More than likely, the pumps were changed that morning, but the sign was not. The pumps can be reset at the counter inside the store. The sign requires effort. It also requires another person to be present.
