I have an auto loan with citizens bank. I recently lost my job and was unable to make payments. I called citizens bank to ask for an extension. First, I get the run around all over the place. THEN, I'm told I have to be employed to get an extension. Now, pardon my ignorance, but isn't the purpose of an extension because you can't make a payment on time? Usually because of loss of job. So, I tell them I have a part time job. Which I do. But it obviously isn't enough to pay all my bills.

The very rude lady on the other end told me she would send out extension papers. For anyone who doesn't know how an extension works. They take your late payment and add it to the end of the loan so you are still considered current.

A week goes by and I get a phone call from Citizens bank. They say I'm 34 days past due. I explain to them that I am waiting for extension papers that they should have sent. They swear up and down that they never spoke to me about sending out those papers. So I go through the whole process again. The lady (who sounds alot like the first lady) asks why don't I just pay it and not be a dead beat. She asks why I don't want to pay my bills. I just told her to send out the papers.

Another week goes by, then 10 days. Finally day 12 the papers arrive. I fill them out and mail them back. What I'm not told is that from the day they send the papers I only have 14 days to get them back. So, I call and have them sent again, this time I have to pay for them to be overnighted so I know that they will get there. Citizens bank takes 5 days to send them out. I get them day six. Mail it back overnight CERTIFIED! Citizens bank claims they didn't get it. I obviously have proof otherwise.

They finally grant the extension, but only after ruining my credit! Had they mailed the papers when I asked I would have never went past 30 days late. The people are rude, calling me a dead beat, told me that I don't want to work. When you ask to speak to a supervisor he is just as rude saying he backs his employees 100% and would not listen to my side of what happened.

Needless to say I refinanced my auto loan and got away from citizens, but it cost me time, stress, and bad marks on my otherwise spotless credit report. this people are ridiculous.
