I really feel that the (sub-contractor) IN THIS CASE. Was not trying to get any more payment out of me. He really did not come across that way. Only that he wanted to let me know what Cochran was doing with my contract and ultimately wanted some type of proof for court (I suppose) that I had paid but he had not received payment.
The only talk about a Lien was really that he could file for one but was trying to do everything he could before it came to that.
I feel the same way you do. Ultimately I didn't know who was servicing my property. I should not be held responsible for Buisness to Buisness relationships that Cochran has. I honestly feel that Cochran was dishonest with me about everything and dishonest to the Sub-contractors.
Don't get me wrong Todd Cochran knows a lot about Landscape but seems to run his business very SHADY!

These subcontractors presented themselves as workers for the main contractor, using his uniforms and trucks. I don't understand the crazy mechanics lien laws that can hold a homeowner responsible in such a case.
It's not like you hired a general contractor and were reasonably expected to know others doing the work were subcontractors. Even then, I find the whole mechanics lien business to be incredibly unfair. Why shouldn't subcontractors be expected to take their own measures to safeguard getting paid before they do the work? Why should the homeowner end up with all the risk? How can anyone hire anybody to do anything under such threats? How does anyone know the subs didn't actually get paid after all and are in cahoots with the main contractor to scam the customers out of more money?

Hi im sorry about your loss, ive been landscaping for 10 yrs. I tried getting a job with Cochran. When i walked in the two men standing there looked like they were down on their luck. they were also mad about things and wasn't really nice to me. i mean what if i could of been a reference to them for more business or what if i took them my clients and if i would have said that up front maybe they wouldn't have been such mean. maybe they would have took me for what i was worth or just used me. so i brushed it off and left. but since you live on blacksnake rd. and u got another business i hope you chose. TC.Unlimited or A cut above Landscaping and Lawn Management i worked for both companies and they are very great people. TC will take great care of you and they care about their clients. they have hard workers and the right equipment to get the job done. If they can-not do the job i promise you they will find someone who can. Now as far as finding someone who can then that might be a sub-contracted deal.. on just that job because it will take diffrent equipment and diffrent people but just for maintanace in your yard i can not belive someone would do that to an individual That im sure was paying on time everyweek of month. people should not take advantage of something like that. Im glad you found out what has been happening. hope this helped you.
