Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was in possesion of two illegal black boxes and comcast did a sting on my college apartment complex. The boxes were turned over willingly and was told there wasn't anything to worry about. 3 weeks later i recieve a letter with a settlement fee of $9000 up front, or over $12,000 in monthly installments of $400 for over 2 years.

I told the head coordinator that the security guys that took the boxes said there wasn't anything to worry about, and papers were sign saying "the boxes were turned over willingly". $9000 is a crap load for a poor college student, especially one whose parents are missionaries (thats me, its true but i'll probably get no grace from comcast).

I'm currently in the process of trying to shave off some of the settlement cost, but its not looking to good. $9000 is a lot for a college student (state school student for that matter). I know it was wrong, but there were no warnings for being the first offense, or warnings of a company buckling down on cable theft. Is comcast in the business of coming down hard on college students now?

Or was i just the random selection? I am hoping someone else has gone through this, because i'm kind of walking in circles here.

This person above is not the owner of Comcast. We do not Think that it is funny what happened to you and since it was the first time you got caught you may want to go into your local office and see if you would agree to subscribe to one of our services maybe we would be kind enough to drop the charges on you. But just so you know we do look for cable theft all the time because it is reguired by the fcc for us to sumit a report on theft each month and the people that we find hooked up ilegally in my area we report to the police, and we have meters in our service trucks that help us detect where someone is stealing cable. But i think you will find that if you go to the office and talk to someone that we will be very helpfull in tring to help you with your situation.

Yes we caught you descrambling our overpriced cable!!! And we don't care if we drive you to bankruptcy because we want your money and we don't care by which means we get it. We went after every college student with comcast cable we could, becasue 50% of them had a black box. We don't care about customers, we don't warn anybody. We will break down your door if we have to. Here's your warning... "If you are a college student with cable we'll search your house for a black box and when we find one... we will take you future... HAHAHAHAHAHA." But seriously, we like to take money from poor college students and if their parents are rich even better. But for independent students.. you are screwed... help comcast by getting caught with a black box. with enough lawsuits and settlements we will be able to buy Disney whether they like it or not!!! And you know we just sell our black boxes back to the public, and give them to our employees.
