Went into Conns on October 29, 2007 at approx. 4:30 PM. Salesman Max. My wife and I were looking at a Whirlpool washer and dryer set. We were drawn by an advertisement in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Published October 28, 2007 offering 36 months same as cash. Max did a great job up-selling us to a set of LG appliances, pointing out the longer warranty and extra features. There was a sign on the dryer that offered 10% off for purchasing a set. While negotiating with Max, we were repeating the offer back to him to make sure that we understood the offer. Max suddenly looked at the 10% sign and said that it had expired. He pulled the sign off (It was on with a very strong adhesive) telling us that he would honor the offer. He then said that he would be unable to honor both the 36 month no interest and 10% off. We agreed to take a 24 month no interest offer along with the 10% off. He also mentioned that we could get a 4 year extended warranty for $179.

He typed our information into his computer and our credit was approved. He started to write up the order. Suddenly, he told us that he could not honor the 10% off. He had agreed to the offer several times or I would not have proceeded with the sale.

We told him that he should honor the offer as it was posted and he had agreed to the sale. He called his manager over and he offered us several lesser deals, 12 months no interest, 24 months but 10% off only the washer. We walked out of the store. We had invested over an hour of our time for nothing. Conns should have honored their offer. They ended up losing an approximately $2900 sale over $84.49. We might have taken the lesser offer but, while he was writing up the sale, we learned that the $179 extended warranty was only for the dryer. The washer warranty was $199. He also added in $18 for an installation kit without asking us. I am also writing the Texas Attorney General to report them.
